    Introduction About OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION

    OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION is a combination of Metronidazole, Ofloxacin and Simethicone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Gastrointestinal agents respectively. It is used to manage gastrointestinal infections, chest infections, diarrhoea & dysentery, amoebiasis, intra-abdominal infections, gastroenteritis, antibiotic associated colitis, giardiasis, anaerobic infections, inflammatory bowel syndrome, bloating and distension.

    Avoid taking alcohol with OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION. It is not recommended in patients with kidney problems and epilepsy. OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients with dermatitis. OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION should be used with caution in pregnant women. Contact your doctor before taking. OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking.

    The most common side effects of taking OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION are agitation, sleep disorder, insomnia, muscle, joint pain, dizziness, headache, eye irritation, vertigo, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, unpleasant taste in the mouth, dry mouth, weight loss, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, photosensitivity, hallucination, and sinus tachycardia. Contact your doctor if you experience any side effects.

    Uses Of OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION

    It is used to manage conditions such as:

    • gastrointestinal infections
    • chest infections
    • diarrhoea, dysentery
    • amoebiasis
    • intra-abdominal infections
    • gastroenteritis
    • antibiotic associated colitis
    • giardiasis
    • anaerobic infections
    • inflammatory bowel syndrome
    • bloating and distension

    How OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION Works

    OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION acts synergistically against bacteria and protozoa both kind of pathogens. Metronidazole acts against the microorganisms by destroying the DNA of the bacteria. Ofloxacin against the bacteria by managing them from repairing themselves and inhibits reproduction. Simethicone breaks down gas bubbles to make it easier for gas to travel through the body.

    How to use OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION

    Take OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you, based on your age, body weight, disease condition.

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Consume lots of water and fruit juice which keeps yourself hydrated. Contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsens.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Take rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines if you feel dizzy. Do not take alcohol, as it can increase dizziness. Contact your doctor if the dizziness does not improve.

    Headache

    Rest and relax. Consume lots of water and electrolytes. Use a pain-relieving balm if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the headache persists.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take the medication right before or after eating. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. If the nausea and vomiting does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the abdominal pain did not improve.

    • have epilepsy

    • rifampicin (medicine used for tuberculosis)
    • ciclosporin (medicine used in cases of organ transplantation)
    • antibiotics such as azithromycin (medicine used for bacterial infection)
    • medicines used for heart problems such as arrhythmia (Ex. amiodarone)
    • antipsychotics (medicines used to manage psychoses)
    • antimicrobials (medicine used to manage infection)
    • anticoagulants (medicines used for managing blood clotting disorders)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of OFTIVENT M ORAL SUSPENSION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
