OBPARP 150 TABLET is used in the management of various types of cancer such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer that is caused or relapsed due to certain gene mutations (like BRCA, HER-2 negative genes). It can be used as a single agent or in combination with other anticancer agents for effective management.
It contains a medicine called Olaparib which is an anticancer agent. It works by blocking the actions of certain enzymes which is required for the cancer cells to grow and multiply.
OBPARP 150 TABLET should be used under careful medical supervision. It can be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking OBPARP 150 TABLET without consulting your doctor.
During therapy with OBPARP 150 TABLET, your doctor will schedule blood tests regularly in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this medicine and to avoid side effects. Make sure you take all the blood test recommended by your doctor. Do not drink grapefruit juice along with this medicine, as it may affect the way this medicine works.

Men must also use condoms to avoid sexual exposure of Olaparib to their female partners even if they are pregnant.

The most common side effects of taking OBPARP 150 TABLET are nausea, vomiting, tiredness, weakness, indigestion or heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, upper stomach pain, low RBC, WBC and platelet levels, headache, Changes in taste of foods, skin rashes and mouth ulcers. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects troubles you.

How OBPARP 150 TABLET Works
OBPARP 150 TABLET contains Olaparib which is an effective anticancer agent. It works by blocking the actions of an enzyme called PARP (poly ADP-ribose polymerase) within the cells, which is responsible for repairing damaged genetic material (DNA) in both normal and cancerous cells.
Since cancers originated due to gene mutations (like BRCA or HER-2 negative gene mutation) contains damaged DNAs in the cells, PARP is required by the cancer cells to repair the damaged DNA and for subsequent proliferation. By blocking the actions of PARP, Olaparib stops cancer cells from repairing their DNA, causing them to die while leaving normal cells less affected.
How to use OBPARP 150 TABLET
Take OBPARP 150 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy based on your age, body weight and severity of the disease. Do not stop taking OBPARP 150 TABLET without consulting your doctor.
Side Effects Of OBPARP 150 TABLET
Common
- Nausea, vomiting
- Tiredness, weakness
- Indigestion or heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, upper stomach pain
- Headache, Changes in taste of foods
- Dizziness, cough, shortness of breath
- low white blood cell counts which may be associated with fever
- Skin rashes
- Mouth ulcers (stomatitis)
- Low blood platelet counts causing bleeding or bruising
- Increase in blood creatinine - this test is used to check how your kidneys are working
- Abnormal liver function tests
Uncommon
- increase in the size of red blood cells (not associated with any symptoms)
Rare
- facial swelling (angioedema)
- pain and inflammation of fatty tissue under the skin

- Pneumonitis (signs include shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing)
- Signs of blood clots such as pain or swelling in an extremity (blood clot in legs), shortness of breath, chest pain, breathing that is more rapid than normal or heart beats faster than normal (pulmonary embolism)
- Signs of liver problems (such as unexplained nausea, vomiting, yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes, abnormally dark or brown urine, pain at right side of the stomach area (abdomen), tiredness, less hunger)
- Signs of anemia (such as shortness of breath, feeling very tired, pale skin or fast heartbeat)
- Severe allergic reactions (such as skin rashes, itching, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, dizziness)
- Itchy rash or swollen, reddened skin (dermatitis)
- Bone marrow problems (such as myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukaemia)
How To Manage Side Effects
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Stay hydrated and avoid sudden movements like standing up quickly, which can worsen the dizziness. Try to move slowly and sit down if you feel lightheaded. Resting with your head elevated can also help. Eating small, balanced meals throughout the day can keep your blood sugar stable, reducing dizziness. Pregnancy
ContraindicatedOBPARP 150 TABLET should not be used in pregnant women as it may affect the unborn baby. If you accidentally became pregnant while taking OBPARP 150 TABLET, talk to your doctor immediately.
Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedIt is not known whether OBPARP 150 TABLET passes through the breast milk. Therefore, do not breastfeed if you are taking this medicine and for 1 month after taking OBPARP 150 TABLET. Confirm with your doctor about when you can breastfeed after stopping OBPARP 150 TABLET.
