Introduction About NORMAXIN TABLET
NORMAXIN TABLET is a combination of Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium and Dicyclomine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antianxiety drugs and Antispasmodics respectively. It is used to relieve painful stomach cramps in patients suffering from stomach problems such as peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome or colitis.
It also helps in the management of nervous dyspepsia (signs of indigestion associated with anxiety and nervousness) in patients with or without any mental disorders.
NORMAXIN TABLET should be used under medical supervision. It is preferably taken before meals and at bedtime. Before taking NORMAXIN TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, trouble urination or any vision problems as a precaution.
Do not take NORMAXIN TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of taking NORMAXIN TABLET are tiredness, weakness, headache, dizziness, sleepiness, dry mouth, thirst, dry skin, problems in passing urine, reduced sex drive and irregular periods. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.

How NORMAXIN TABLET Works
NORMAXIN TABLET contains three medicines namely chlordiazepoxide, clidinium and dicyclomine. Chlordiazepoxide is an antianxiety medication. It suppresses the abnormal electrical activity within the brain and induces calmness. This helps in the management of nervous dyspepsia.
Clidinium and dicyclomine are smooth muscle relaxants. They reduce stomach cramps by relaxing the smooth muscles present in the stomach and in the intestines. Collectively, these actions reduce stomach cramps, signs of indigestion and nervousness associated with indigestion.
How to use NORMAXIN TABLET
Take NORMAXIN TABLET as advised by your physician. It is preferably taken before meals and at bedtime. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking NORMAXIN TABLET unless your doctor advice you to stop.

- slow or difficult speech, shuffling walk
- persistent tremor or inability to sit still
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
How To Manage Side Effects

Constipation
Taking NORMAXIN TABLET with meals may reduce the chances of constipation. However, if you experience constipation, eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

Headache
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.

Pregnancy
Monitoring requiredNORMAXIN TABLET should be used in pregnant women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding
Monitoring requiredNORMAXIN TABLET may reduce breast milk production. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionNORMAXIN TABLET may induce drowsiness. Therefore, do not drive or handle heavy tools or machines if your ability is affected by NORMAXIN TABLET.

Alcohol
Consult your doctorAvoid consumption of alcohol while taking NORMAXIN TABLET, as it could make you feel more dizzy or drowsy.

Kidney

Allergy

Use In Pediatrics
ContraindicatedNORMAXIN TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) due to lack of safety data. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Use In Geriatrics
ContraindicatedNORMAXIN TABLET is generally not recommended for use in the elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
Before taking NORMAXIN TABLET inform your doctor if you:

- have prostate enlargement
- have problems in passing urine due to block in the neck of the bladder
- have any vision problems
- have any urinary problems
- have hiatus hernia (abnormal bulging of stomach contents)
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking NORMAXIN TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- medicines used to manage psychiatric disorders (such as pimozide, haloperidol, risperidone, thioridazine, fluphenazine, chlorpromazine, clozapine) or selegiline
- medicine used to manage depression like monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. tranylcypromine, moclobemide iproniazid, nialamide, isocarboxazid, toloxatone)
- linezolid (a medicine used to manage bacterial infection)
- methylene blue (a medicine used to manage high methaemoglobin in blood)
- medicines used for blood thinning (such as heparin, warfarin)
B. Drug-Food interaction:
Try to take this medicine before meals to achieve maximum efficacy.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more NORMAXIN TABLET, contact your doctor immediately or go to a hospital straight away. Symptoms of overdosage might include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, blurred vision, and a hot dry skin.
