Introduction About NIXIDOX CAPSULE
NIXIDOX CAPSULE is a combination of Doxycycline and Lactic Acid Bacillus, which belong to the groups of medicines called antibiotics and probiotics, respectively. It is used in adults prone to intra-abdominal bacterial infection and to manage antibiotic-associated diarrhoea.
Before taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE, inform your doctor about your pre-existing conditions, allergies or if you are taking any other medicines. NIXIDOX CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women, breastfeeding women or children (younger than 8 years), so consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE are loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, light sensitivity, hives and haemolytic anaemia. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse.

How NIXIDOX CAPSULE Works
NIXIDOX CAPSULE improves gastrointestinal symptoms where doxycycline gets accumulated inside the bacteria, gets attached to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis; lactobacillus restores the natural microbial flora within the digestive tract and helps in the breakdown of food, resulting in the production of lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide and other by-products.
How to use NIXIDOX CAPSULE
Take NIXIDOX CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will determine your correct dose and duration based on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of NIXIDOX CAPSULE
Common
- loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- rash, light sensitivity, hives
- hemolytic anemia (red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be restored)
Rare
Stop taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- permanent discoloration of the teeth to yellow-grey-brown (second half of pregnancy, infancy and childhood up to 8 years of age)
- clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
- light sensitivity causing extreme sunburn reaction
How To Manage Side Effects
Loss of appetite:
Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you're hungry. Eat a nutritious snack rich in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve or persist.
Nausea:
Take NIXIDOX CAPSULE with or just after, meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve or persist.
Vomiting:
Get adequate rest. Drink lots of fluids, especially water. Have small sips if you feel sick. Eat when you feel like eating; you don't have to eat or avoid any specific foods. Do not take any medicine for vomiting without your doctor's consultation. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve or persist.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, like water or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Check with your doctor before taking any medicine for diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve or persist.

Pregnancy
NIXIDOX CAPSULE is not recommended for use by pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding
NIXIDOX CAPSULE is not recommended for use by breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines
Consult your doctor if you feel any side effects during management with NIXIDOX CAPSULE that may stop you from driving or using machines.

Allergy
Do not take NIXIDOX CAPSULE if you are allergic to Doxycycline, Lactic acid bacillus, other tetracyclines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
Before taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE, inform your doctor about your pre-existing conditions.
Use in Pediatrics:
NIXIDOX CAPSULE is not recommended for use by children under 8 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in Geriatrics:
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of NIXIDOX CAPSULE depending on your age, body weight and health condition. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage blot clots (Ex. dabigatran, rivaroxaban)
- medicines used to reduce acidity (Ex. aluminum, calcium, magnesium, bismuth subsalicylate)
- iron-containing medicines
- medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. norethindrone, ethinyl estradiol)
- medicines used to manage fits (Ex. phenobarbital, carbamazepine, phenytoin)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of NIXIDOX CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

What if I forget to take a dose of NIXIDOX CAPSULE?
If you forget to take a dose of NIXIDOX CAPSULE, take it as soon as you remember. However, omit the missed dose if it's almost time for the next one. Do not take the medicine twice to make up for the missed dose.
Can NIXIDOX CAPSULE be stopped?
Continue taking NIXIDOX CAPSULE until your doctor tells you to stop, unless you experience any unwanted effects, worsening of your condition or new symptoms. Contact your doctor in such a case.
