    Introduction About NEUROCREME CREAM

    NEUROCREME CREAM contains Doxepin which belongs to the group of medicines called Tricyclic Antidepressants. It is used for the short-term (up to 8 days) management of moderate pruritus (itchy skin) in adult patients with atopic dermatitis (inflammation of skin with redness and itchiness) or lichen simplex chronicus (dry, patchy areas of skin that are scaly and thick).

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while applying NEUROCREME CREAM as it may cause excessive sleepiness. NEUROCREME CREAM is not recommended for use in patients with unmanageed narrow angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or a tendency to urinary retention.

    NEUROCREME CREAM should be used in pregnant women only if clearly needed. It is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. NEUROCREME CREAM is generally not recommended for use in children and it should be used with caution in patients above 65 years of age. The most common side effects of applying NEUROCREME CREAM are drowsiness, burning, stinging sensation. Consult your doctor if the symptoms worsen.

    How NEUROCREME CREAM Works

    NEUROCREME CREAM works by blocking the effects of H1 and H2 histamine receptors (substance produced by the body that causes itching) and aids in the management of moderate pruritus (itching).

    How to use NEUROCREME CREAM

    Always apply NEUROCREME CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply a thin layer of this medicine on the affected area. Occlusive dressings should not be utilized.

    Avoid applying it around your eyes, including eyelids. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Drowsiness:

    When you feel drowsy, lie, or sit down immediately. If you're experiencing a severe episode of vertigo, lie in a dark and quiet place with eyes closed. Vehicle driving should be avoided if you experience frequent drowsiness without warning. Talk to your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    NEUROCREME CREAM should be used during pregnant women or women planning to have a baby only if clearly needed, as safety data has not been established yet. Consult your doctor before applying NEUROCREME CREAM.

    Breastfeeding

    NEUROCREME CREAM is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may excrete through the breast milk. Your doctor will decide whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the medicine, considering the importance of the drug to the mother. Consult your doctor for advice before applying NEUROCREME CREAM.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel sleepy after applying this cream. Consult your doctor before applying NEUROCREME CREAM.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while applying NEUROCREME CREAM as it may cause excessive sleepiness.

    Allergy

    NEUROCREME CREAM is not recommended for use if you are allergic to Doxepin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    NEUROCREME CREAM is not recommended for use if you have:

    • unmanageed narrow angle glaucoma (increased pressure in eyes)
    • tendency to urinary retention

    Use in pediatrics:

    NEUROCREME CREAM is not recommended for use in children as safety data has not been established yet. Consult your doctor before applying NEUROCREME CREAM to your children.

    Use in geriatrics:

    NEUROCREME CREAM should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age due to high chances of side effects. The dose will be adjusted by your doctor.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before applying NEUROCREME CREAM, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • cimetidine (medicine used to manage stomach ulcers)
    • medicines used to manage depression such as phenothiazines, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (Ex. fluoxetine, sertraline, and paroxetine)
    • medicines used for atrial fibrillation like quinidine and type 1c antiarrhythmics (Ex. propafenone flecainide)
    • tolazamide (medicine used to lower the blood glucose levels)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally applied too much of NEUROCREME CREAM, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Signs and symptoms of overdose includes irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, fits (convulsions), and central nervous system depression including coma, confusion, disturbed concentration, hallucinations (seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not there), dilated pupils, agitation, hyperactive reflexes, stupor, drowsiness, muscle rigidity, vomiting, severe low body temperature (hypothermia), extreme high body temperature (hyperpyrexia).
