    Introduction About NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION contains Lornoxicam which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used for short term relief of acute mild to moderate pain when oral administration is not appropriate.

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, severe heart failure, low blood platelet count (which increases risk of bleeding or bruising), gastro-intestinal bleeding, cerebrovascular bleeding or other bleeding disorders, history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation (related to previous therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen) and varicella (chickenpox) infection.

    Before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have impaired kidney function, history of high blood pressure or heart failure, ulcerative colitis or crohn’s disease, peripheral artery or cerebrovascular disease, history of bleeding tendency or asthma, systemic lupus erythematosus (rare immunological disease) or mixed connective tissue disorders and may be at increased risk of developing diabetes or high cholesterol. Your doctor may recommend you to take relevant tests to understand your existing condition.

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use during the last 3 months of pregnancy and in first and second trimester of pregnancy it should be used only if clearly advised by the doctor and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (less than 18 years of age). NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above), especially in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.

    The common side effects of receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion and diarrhea. Inform your doctor immediately if any of the side effect worsens or persist for a long period of time.

    How NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION Works

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity that works by managing the release of chemical messengers by inhibiting an enzyme called cyclooxygenase and also inhibits the prostaglandin synthesis that results in relieving pain and swelling associated with various conditions.    

    How to use NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection or into your muscles as an intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the dose, duration and frequency of NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and severity of the condition.

    Side Effects Of NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION

    Common

    • nausea, vomiting
    • diarrhea
    • stomach pain
    • indigestion
    • mild and transient headache, dizziness

    Uncommon

    • weight changes
    • anorexia (eating disorder)
    • inability to sleep
    • irritation or inflammation of the conjunctiva
    • vertigo (head spinning sensation), ringing sensation in the ears (tinnitus)
    • palpitations (sensation of pounding hearbeat), increased heart rate
    • heart failure, edema (fluid retention)
    • constipation, flatulence, belching, gastritis
    • flushing
    • stuffy nose
    • facial edema, general feeling of discomfort
    • skin rash, itching, excessive sweating, redness, hives and angioedema (painless swelling under skin)
    • dry mouth, mouth ulcers
    • peptic or duodenal ulcer
    • upper stomach pain
    • hair loss
    • joint pain

    Rare

    • sore throat
    • anemia
    • allergic reaction
    • weakness
    • confusion, nervousness or agitation
    • feeling sleepy, tingling sensation
    • abnormal taste sensation
    • tremor, migraine
    • visual disturbances 
    • hot flush, bleeding or collection of blood outside the blood vessel
    • shortness of breath, cough, bronchospasm (lungs airway tighten)
    • difficulty swallowing, swollen tongue or oesophagus
    • perforated peptic ulcer
    • vomiting of blood, gastrointestinal bleeding, black or red-coloured stools
    • stomach acid reflux
    • skin eczema, dermatitis, rash of purple spots
    • bone pain, muscle pain or spasm, weakness
    • urination at nighttime (nocturia), urinary disorders

    Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects while receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION:

    • difficulty in breathing, chest pain, appearance of ankle swelling or it get worse
    • severe continuous stomach pain or black colored stool or abdominal bleeding
    • signs of liver problems (such as yellowish discoloration of the skin or white part of the eyes (jaundice))
    • allergic reaction (signs include ulcer or blistering or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing)
    • fever, blistering eruption in the skin or swelling of hands and feet or in the mouth area (stevens-johnson syndrome)
    • severe skin infection in case of varicella (chickenpox)
    • skin reactions (signs include skin rash, damage to the internal lining of the nostrils, mouth, eyelids, ears, genitals or anus)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Stick to simple meals while receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION. Avoid eating oily rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Headache:

    Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Constipation:

    Try to eat more high-fiber foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. If this does not help, inform your doctor for receiving alternate management for constipation.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink lot of fluids such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Dry mouth:

    Sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can make your mouth dry, use mouthwash that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, inform your doctor.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in the third trimester of pregnancy. It should be used with caution during the first and second trimester of pregnancy, unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.

    Breastfeeding

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or use machines after receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION if you experience sleepiness or dizziness. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Kidney

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment and your doctor may adjust the dose depending upon your kidney function. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.    

    Liver

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with moderate liver impairment (Ex. liver cirrhosis) and your doctor may adjust the dose. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.  

    Allergy

    Do not receive NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Lornoxicam or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or any other ingredients of this medicine.  

    Lungs

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with history of asthma. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.

    Heart Disease

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart failure. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of high blood pressure or heart failure, ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease and cerebrovascular disease. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.   

    Others

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:  

    • have low blood platelet count (which increases the risk of bleeding or bruising)
    • have gastro-intestinal bleeding, cerebrovascular bleeding or other bleeding disorders
    • have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation (related to previous therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)) 
    • have active or history of recurrent stomach ulcer/hemorrhage (two or more episodes of proven ulceration or bleeding)
    • varicella (chickenpox) infection

    Before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION, inform your physician if you:

    • have ulcerative colitis or crohn’s disease
    • have blood coagulation disorders or increased bleeding tendency
    • have diabetes or cholesterol
    • are a smoker
    • have systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disorders

    Use in pediatrics:

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (less than 18 years of age) due to lack of safety and effectiveness. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Use in geriatrics:

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) especially in patients with impaired kidney or liver function and due to increased risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects. Consult your doctor before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before receiving NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • warfarin, phenprocoumon or heparin (used to manage or manage blood clots)
    • cimetidine (used to manage heartburn and stomach ulcer)
    • methotrexate, pemetrexed (used to manage cancer)
    • selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) Ex. fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline or lithium (used to manage depression)
    • tacrolimus, cyclosporin (used to decrease the action of the immune system to manage organ rejection)
    • rifampicin, quinolone antibiotics such as moxifloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, ciprofloxacin (used to manage bacterial infection)
    • sulphonylureas such as glibenclamide (used to manage diabetes)
    • digoxin (used to manage heart disease)
    • corticosteroids such as prednisolone, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone (used to manage the inflammatory condition)
    • diuretics such as furosemide, chlorthalidone, spironolactone, beta-blockers (Ex. metoprolol, atenolol), angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) (Ex. telmisartan, losartan) and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors such as captopril, lisinopril (used to lower blood pressure)
    • anti-platelets (Ex. clopidogrel, ticlopidine) medicines used to manage heart attack and stroke
    • other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen) (used to manage pain and inflammation)

    Overdosage:

    NEUCAM 8MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms such as include nausea, vomiting, dizziness or impaired vision, impaired coordination ascending to coma and cramps, liver and kidney damages or coagulation disorders.
