Introduction About NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET contains Clonidine which belongs to group of medicines called Antihypertensives. NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is used to lower high blood pressure to manage hypertension in affected individuals.
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to clonidine. It is also not recommended for use in patients with rare hereditary condition of galactose intolerance, and/or heart diseases (such as heart failure, slow/irregular heart rate).
Before taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have Raynaud’s phenomenon (condition marked by decreased blood flow to the fingers and toes), depression, constipation, altered sensation, diabetes, liver, and/or kidney problems.
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use in breast-feeding women.
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 60 years/above) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET are dizziness, dry mouth, tiredness, headache, constipation, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

How NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET Works
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET works by relaxing the blood vessels which makes the heart to pump blood more efficiently around the body thus resulting in the lowered blood pressure and thereby managing hypertension in affected individuals.
How to use NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET
Take NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET
Common
- dizziness
- signs of sedation such as feeling tired or relaxed more than usual
- signs of orthostatic hypertension such as feeling dizzy when you stand up suddenly
- dry mouth
- depression

- headache

- pain below the ear (from the salivary gland)

- altered sensation in hands and feet

- itching, rash, urticaria (nettle rash)
- feeling of discomfort and fatigue
- blurred vision
- confusion
- irrational/abnormal thoughts
- irritability
- decreased sexual drive / impotence
- constipation
- dryness of the nose and eyes
- pain in the salivary glands
- larger breasts (than normal) in men
- thinning of hair
Rare
- hair loss
- signs of high blood sugar such as feeling thirsty, urinating frequently, feeling weak or tired.
Stop taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience
- signs of pseudo-obstruction of the large bowel such as colicky pain, vomiting and constipation
How To Manage Side Effects
Dizziness:
If you feel dizzy, keep your eyes closed sit or lie down. Do not drive or operate machinery. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if required. Do not consume alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Constipation:
Eat more fiber especially soluble fiber foods such as beans, oats, oat bran, rice bran, barley. Try to keep yourself hydrated and avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage the side effect. Consult your doctor if the symptom persists or does not improve.
Nausea and vomiting:
Take NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor if the condition worsens.

Pregnancy
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Breastfeeding
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it may pass through milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy, dizzy or have some disturbances of vision after taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET as it may alter the effect of the medicine.
Kidney
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Allergy
Do not take NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET if you are allergic to Clonidine, and/or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with problems such as heart failure, slow/irregular heart rate. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Others
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have rare hereditary condition of galactose intolerance
Before taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have signs of Raynaud’s phenomenon (condition marked by decreased blood flow to the fingers and toes) such as cold fingers or toes
- have or ever had depression
- have constipation
- have altered sensation (nerve disorder that causes your hands and feet to feel different
- low blood pressure while standing up
- have intolerance or difficulty to digest certain sugars (such as lactose)
- have diabetes
- have signs of phaeochromocytoma (rare tumor of the adrenal gland) such as high blood pressure, headache, heavy sweating
- stroke or transient ischeamic attack (TIA)
Use in Pediatrics:
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Use in Geriatrics:
NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 60 years). Consult your doctor before taking.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking,
- other medicines that make you drowsy Ex. brompheniramine, diphenhydramine
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (used to reduce fever & inflammation, and relieve pain) Ex. ibuprofen
- imipramine or mirtazapine (used to manage depression)
- antipsychotics (used for severe mental illness such as schizophrenia) Ex. chlorpromazine
- beta blockers (used to manage hypertension) Ex. atenolol
- water tablets – frusemide (diuretics)
- alpha blockers (used for prostate problems in men) Ex. prazosin or doxazosin
- vasodilators (medicines used to dilate or manage constriction of blood vessels to allow free blood flow to the organs) Ex. diazoxide or sodium nitroprusside
- calcium antagonists (used to manage hypertension) Ex. verapamil, diltiazem hydrochloride
- ACE inhibitors (used to manage hypertension) Ex. captopril, lisinopril
- digitalis glycoside (used to manage heart diseases) Ex. digoxin

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of NEFROPRES C 100 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are slow heartbeat, drowsiness, temporary breathlessness, dizziness, weakness, lethargy, feeling cold, vomiting, looking pale, irregular heartbeat, and coma.
