Introduction About NAUCID MD
NAUCID MD contains Ondansetron, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-emetics. It is used to manage nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy or radiotherapy. NAUCID MD is also used after surgeries (operation) to manage nausea and vomiting.
Before taking NAUCID MD, inform your doctor if you have severe constipation, heart or liver problems, imbalance with the levels of salts in the blood, such as potassium, sodium and magnesium or if you have been scheduled for any surgery.
NAUCID MD is not recommended for use during pregnancy. This medicine may pass through the breast milk hence it is not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
The dose of NAUCID MD will depends on the age, body weight and disease condition of your child. Dosage adjustment is not required in elderly patients, hence consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
The most common side effects of taking NAUCID MD includes headache, flushing and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of these above symptoms gets worse.

How NAUCID MD Works
NAUCID MD is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist (specific chemical receptor) which works by blocking serotonin receptors in CTZ chemoreceptor trigger zone (zone in the brain that is responsible for causing nausea and vomiting).
How to use NAUCID MD
Always take NAUCID MD as advised by your physician. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of NAUCID MD
Common
- headache
- flushing (feeling of warmth)
- constipation
Uncommon
- uncontrolled body movements along with upward rolling movement of the eyeballs
- fits (seizures)
- irregular heartbeat (fast or slow)
- chest pain
- fainting or feeling dizzy (low blood pressure)
- hiccups
Rare
- visual disturbances like blurred vision
- effects of heart rhythms resulting in feeling lightheaded or loss of consciousness
Stop taking NAUCID MD and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:
- sudden wheezing and chest pain or tightness
- swelling of eyelids, face, lips, mouth or tongue
- skin rash, red spots or lumps under your skin (hives) or anywhere on the body
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
Take rest. Have good amount of sleep. Have a balanced diet and at regular intervals. Add more fluids to your diet. Drink plenty of water to replenish water stores.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink water and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.
Dizziness:
Lie down until the dizziness passes and get up slowly. Do not bend down suddenly. Get a lot of rest. Walk slowly and carefully. Take plenty of fluids. Avoid drinking coffee, alcohol or smoking. Consult your doctor if the condition persists for long or gets worsened.

Pregnancy
NAUCID MD is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Breastfeeding
NAUCID MD is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or uneasy after taking NAUCID MD.
Liver
NAUCID MD should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Allergy
Do not take NAUCID MD if you are allergic to ondansetron, granisetron or palonosetron or to any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
NAUCID MD should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases such as uneven heartbeats (arrhythmias) or congestive heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Others
Before taking NAUCID MD, inform your doctor if you:
- have a blockage in your gut
- have problems with the levels of salts in the blood (such as potassium, sodium and magnesium)
- are intolerant to some sugars (Ex. lactose intolerance)
Use in pediatrics:
Your doctor will give the right dose of NAUCID MD depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Use in geriatrics:
Dosage adjustment is not required in elderly patients, hence consult your doctor before taking NAUCID MD.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking NAUCID MD, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- apomorphine (used to manage Parkinson’s disease)
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine)
- medicines used to manage lung infections like Tuberculosis (Ex. rifampicin)
- tramadol, methadone (medicine used to provide relief from pain)
- medicines used for psychotic disorders (Ex. haloperidol)
- medicines used to manage heart problems such as abnormal heart beats (Ex. amiodarone) and/or high blood pressure (Ex. atenolol, timolol)
- cancer medicines (Ex. doxorubicin, daunorubicin, monoclonal, trastuzumab)
- erythromycin, ketoconazole (used to manage infections)
- medicines used to manage depression and anxiety (ex. fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, citalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine escitalopram)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of NAUCID MD, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
