    Introduction About NAFTOMAX

    NAFTOMAX contains Naftopidil, which belongs to a group of medicines called Alpha-1 adrenoreceptor antagonist. It is used in men for the management of dysuria (painful urination) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. An enlarged prostate gland can lead to uncomfortable urinary symptoms, such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder, urinary tract infections or kidney problems.

    NAFTOMAX is not recommended for use in women, patients with orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure on standing up) or salt imbalance. NAFTOMAX is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

    NAFTOMAX is contraindication in children. The most common side effects of taking NAFTOMAX are lightheadness, dizziness, upset stomach, low blood pressure, nausea or vomiting. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms gets worse.

    How NAFTOMAX Works

    NAFTOMAX reduces the prostate pressure and obstruction in the bladder hence causing relaxation of the smooth muscle in and around the prostate, which improves urine flow in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

    How to use NAFTOMAX

    Take NAFTOMAX as advised by your physician. Swallow NAFTOMAX with a glass of water and do not chew or crush the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight.

    Side Effects Of NAFTOMAX

    Common

    • fainting
    • dizziness/light headedness
    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • irregular heartbeat
    • low blood pressure on standing up
    • flushing

    Rare

    Stop taking NAFTOMAX and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • rashes, itchiness, difficulty in breathing, swelling of eyelids and face
    • general uneasiness, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (liver dysfunction, jaundice)
    • fainting, loss of consciousness

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Keep yourself hydrated. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptoms do not improve.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or uneasy after taking NAFTOMAX.

    Allergy

    Do not take NAFTOMAX if you are allergic to Naftopidil or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    NAFTOMAX is not recommended for use if you:

    • have orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure on standing up)
    • have salt imbalance

    Use in Paediatrics:

    NAFTOMAX is contraindicated in children. Consult your doctor.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking NAFTOMAX inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • indapamide and its analogues (to manage high blood pressure or remove excess fluid from body)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of NAFTOMAX, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
