Introduction About MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET
MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET contains Trihexyphenidyl which belongs to the group of medicines called Central Anticholinergics. It is used to improve muscle control in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a long-term brain disorder that causes muscle stiffness, shaking, slow and unsteady movements, difficulty in walking and loss of balance. It happens due to loss of nerve cells at certain regions of brain (basal ganglia) that controls body movements.
MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET can also be used to control abnormal involuntary muscle movements (such as extreme restlessness or muscle spasms) in the body that is caused due to the use of certain medicines.
Trihexyphenidyl is a muscle relaxant. It reduces muscle stiffness and relaxes muscles by reducing the activity of a chemical messenger called acetylcholine in the brain. It also restores a balance between certain brain chemicals (dopamine and acetylcholine) that controls body movements.
Before taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, high blood pressure, stomach ulcer or problems in your prostate gland. You must also inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems before taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET as a precaution.
Talk to your doctor before taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) or tardive dyskinesia (unusual movements of face and tongue). Consult your doctor before taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects of taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET are dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

It is used to:

How MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET Works
MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET is an anticholinergic medicine with muscle relaxing properties. It reduces muscle stiffness and improves muscle control by reducing the activity of a chemical messenger called acetylcholine in the brain. It also regulates the release of a brain chemical called dopamine that regulates proper body movements and coordination. As a result, it reduces abnormal muscle movements associated with Parkinson’s disease and with the use of certain medicines.
How to use MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET
Take MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the medicine. It must be taken with or just before meals.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET for the stipulated duration as advised by your doctor without any interruption to achieve maximum benefits.
Side Effects Of MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET
Common

Uncommon
Stop taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- feeling restless, agitated, or confused
- delusion (false beliefs), hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that does not exist)
- difficulty in sleeping
- immediate or short-term memory loss
- worsening of myasthenia gravis (muscle pain or weakness)
- eye problems (dilated pupils, eye discomfort and increased sensitivity to light, eye pain)
- fast heartbeat
- fever, skin rash with redness or dryness
- inability to pass urine, feeling thirsty
How To Manage Side Effects

Constipation
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

Dry Mouth
Drink plenty of water or fluids at regular intervals. Frequent small sips of water or the use of artificial saliva may be beneficial. However, if it bothers you or if your condition worsens contact your doctor.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

Driving and Using Machines

- suffer from myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness)

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking MOVAHEXY 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- aspirin (a medicine used to relieve pain and reduce fever)
- medicine used for depression such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide, tranylcypromine) or tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline)
- medicines used to manage mental illness (Ex. chlorpromazine, thioridazine, clozapine)
- antihistamines (medicines used to manage allergies) Ex. cetirizine, desloratadine, fexofenadine
- disopyramide (a medicine used to manage irregular heartbeat)
- levodopa (a medicine used to manage parkinson’s disease)
- amantadine (a medicine used for viral infections)
- nefopam (a medicine used for pain relief)
- metoclopramide or domperidone (medicines used for nausea and vomiting)
- parasympathomimetics (medicine used for urinary retention) ex. neostigmine, bethanechol
