    Introduction About MIRBEG 50MG TABLET

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET contains Mirabegron which belongs to the group of medicines called Bladder muscle relaxants. MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is used in the management of managing the symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults such as an uncontrollable, sudden urge to urinate (urgency), feeling to pass urine many times during the day and night (increased urinary frequency) and the experience of unintentional loss of urine (urgency incontinence).

    Your doctor will check the blood pressure while taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET in patients with a history of high blood pressure.

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension) and patients who are allergic to mirabegron.

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney problems. MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women and need to be used with caution among breastfeeding women.

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age).

    The most common side effects of taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET are increased heart rate (tachycardia), infection of the body parts that carry urine (urinary tract infections), nausea, constipation, headache and diarrhoea. Talk to your doctor if symptoms get worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    Uses Of MIRBEG 50MG TABLET

    • Used to manage OAB (overactive bladder) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency and urinary frequency

    How MIRBEG 50MG TABLET Works

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET works by relaxing the muscles around your bladder during the storage phase of the urinary bladder fill-void cycle, which increases the bladder's capacity to hold more urine, thereby reducing the feelings of urgency and the need to urinate frequently.

    How to use MIRBEG 50MG TABLET

    Take MIRBEG 50MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow MIRBEG 50MG TABLET with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of MIRBEG 50MG TABLET

    Common

    • increased heart rate (tachycardia)
    • signs of urinary tract infections (persistent urge to urinate, burning sensation when urinating, blood in urine, cloudy appearance of urine, pain in lower abdomen)
    • constipation
    • headache
    • nausea
    • diarrhoea
    • dizziness

    Uncommon

    • signs of bladder infection (increased urge to urinate frequently, burning sensation during urination, blood in urine, passing cloudy or strong-smelling urine, discomfort in the lower abdomen and low-grade fever)
    • indigestion (dyspepsia)
    • infection of the stomach
    • swelling of the joints
    • itching sensation in the vulva or vagina (vulvovaginal pruritus)
    • high blood pressure
    • itching and skin rash with tiny red bumps

    Rare

    • swelling of the eyelid and lips
    • swelling of the skin due to fluid build-up that can also affect face, tongue or throat and may cause difficulty in breathing
    • small purple-coloured spots on the skin  
    • inflammation of small blood vessels in the skin  
    • unable to completely empty the bladder (urinary retention)

    Stop taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • irregular and rapid increase in heartbeat rate (atrial fibrillation)
    • sudden throbbing type of headache (migraine like headache)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    Try to rest and relax. Apply pain balm to the head to ease off the pain. Take hot water or ginger tea. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

    Dizziness:

    Sit down or lie down slowly when you are feeling dizziness. Take rest for some time and drink plenty of water. Avoid coffee and other carbonated drinks. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Nausea:

    Take MIRBEG 50MG TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET.

    Breastfeeding

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women, as it passes into your breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET. Your doctor would decide whether you should take the medication or breast-feed.

    Driving and Using Machines

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET can be used with caution while driving or operating any machines, as it might affect your ability.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET. Consult your doctor before taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET.

    Kidney

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking to adjust the dose accordingly.

    Liver

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Talk to your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Allergy

    Do not take MIRBEG 50MG TABLET if you are allergic to Mirabegron or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET is not recommended for patients with severe uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension). It should be used with caution in patients with heart rhythm disorders (QT prolongation). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Others

    Use in pediatrics:

    The safety and effectiveness of MIRBEG 50MG TABLET in pediatric patients have not been established. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Use in geriatrics:

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET can be used in elderly patients with caution. However, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines used in the management of overactive bladder (Ex. oxybutynin, tolterodine, darifenacin, solifenacin and fesoterodine)
    • medicines used to manage improper beating of the heart (Ex. quinidine, sotalol, procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, dofetilide, and amiodarone, propafenone, flecainide)
    • medicines used in the management of allergic rhinitis (Ex. cetirizine, loratadine, desloratadine, levocetirizine, and fexofenadine)
    • medicines used in management of mental illness (Ex. thioridazine, haloperidol, and chlorpromazine)
    • imipramine or desipramine (medicines used for managing depression)
    • medicines used in the management of bacterial infections (Ex. pentamidine, moxifloxacin, erythromycin, and clarithromycin)
    • medicines used in the management of fungal infections (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole)
    • medicine used in the management for heart failure  
    • ritonavir (medicine used in the management of HIV/AIDS)
    • dabigatran etexilate (used to inhibit the formation of blood clots)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of MIRBEG 50MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are increased pulse rate or an increased blood pressure.

    MIRBEG 50MG TABLET starts to work after about 3 to 4 hours to relax the muscle surrounding your bladder. However, it can take up to 4 to 8 weeks for you to notice any improvements in your symptoms. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Can MIRBEG 50MG TABLET be used to control my urinary urgency?

    Yes. MIRBEG 50MG TABLET works by relaxing the muscles around your bladder and holds more urine, and it is also used to manage other symptoms of the overactive bladder condition such as increased urinary frequency, and the inability to hold the urine.

    Can MIRBEG 50MG TABLET increase your heart rate?

    Yes. MIRBEG 50MG TABLET may cause heartbeat faster. If you experience any abnormally faster heart rate with shortness of breath, consult your doctor immediately. This might occur due to increased blood pressure.

    What will happen if I stop taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET?

    Do not stop taking MIRBEG 50MG TABLET without consulting your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking this medicine, it will stop its action and your symptoms may come back or get worse.

    Are there any lifestyle changes to follow along from MIRBEG 50MG TABLET?

    There are lifestyle changes that may help your symptoms. Avoid drinks which can irritate your bladder, such as coffee, lose any excess weight, eating a healthy diet and undergoing bladder training and pelvic floor muscle training to ease off the symptoms.
