    Introduction About MEDISALIC OINTMENT

    MEDISALIC OINTMENT is a combination of Clobetasol propionate and Salicylic acid which belongs to a group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids and Keratolytic agents, respectively. MEDISALIC OINTMENT is used to manage and provide relief from inflammatory manifestations of skin conditions such as psoriasis (skin condition marked by rash and itchiness), and eczema (skin inflammation) in affected individuals. MEDISALIC OINTMENT is also used to provide relief from skin redness, itching, and/or swelling due to various skin conditions. It is also indicated for use to manage other skin conditions such as dermatoses (skin lesion), seborrheic dermatitis of scalp and/or ichthyosis vulgaris (inherited skin condition marked by dry & scaly skin) in affected individuals.

    MEDISALIC OINTMENT is generally not recommended for use in patients allergic to Clobetasol, and/or Salicylic acid. MEDISALIC OINTMENT is advised to be used in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. MEDISALIC OINTMENT is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 12 years). The medicine is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.

    The most common side-effects associated with the use of MEDISALIC OINTMENT are irritation, burning, redness, and/or stinging sensation (at the site of application), skin rash, itching, and/or peeling/ thinning of skin. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsens.

    Uses Of MEDISALIC OINTMENT

    It is used to:

    • manage and provide relief from inflammatory manifestations of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema
    • provide relief from skin redness, itching, and/or swelling due to various skin conditions
    • manage other skin conditions such as dermatoses, seborrheic dermatitis of scalp, and/or ichthyosis vulgaris in affected individuals

    How MEDISALIC OINTMENT Works

    MEDISALIC OINTMENT provides relief from psoriasis and eczema, where Clobetasol propionate manages inflammation by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and/or itchy. Salicylic acid softens the skin by removing dead skin cells and breaking down keratin clumps which results in reducing itchiness and redness of skin, thus providing relief from psoriasis and eczema in affected individuals. 

    How to use MEDISALIC OINTMENT

    Always apply MEDISALIC OINTMENT as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Wash your hands and apply a thin layer of medicine on the affected area. Avoid covering the affected area with airtight dressings unless recommended. Avoid applying the medicine on face, groin, or axillae. Your doctor will decide the correct dose. and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of MEDISALIC OINTMENT

    Common

    • irritation, burning, redness, and/or stinging sensation at the site of application
    • peeling/thinning of skin

    Uncommon

    • erythema (skin redness)
    • telangiectasia (condition marked by small, widened blood vessels on the skin)

    Stop applying MEDISALIC OINTMENT and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • blurred vision, dizziness, fainting, and/or irregular heartbeat
    • irritation, and/or sensitization

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Try to pat/tap your skin instead of scratching it. Hold a damp towel to cool your skin. Wear loose clothing and avoid tight clothes, or clothes made from wool or synthetic fabrics. Avoid using perfumed soaps, deodorants, and/or moisturizers and use a skin softener regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve or gets worse.
