    Introduction About MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION contains Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Antipyretics. It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain like headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, sore throat, period pains, teething, immunisation, earache, and general aches and pains. It can also be used to manage fever (high temperature), and symptoms of cold or flu.

    Before taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, fructose intolerance, Gilberts syndrome, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, hemolytic anaemia, reduced glutathione levels, malnourishment, dehydration or if you weigh less than 50 kg.

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION should be used in pregnant women only if considered necessary. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, as it might make you more prone to side effects.

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children (2-3 months old, weighing less than 4 kg or born before 37 weeks). Contact your doctor if you get any side effects of any of the symptoms get worse.

    How MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION Works

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting certain enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) involved in synthesis of chemicals responsible for inducing pain (prostaglandins). It reduces fever by directly acting on heat-regulating centers in the brain, resulting in vessel relaxation, sweating, and loss of body heat.

    How to use MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION

    Take MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION

    Common

    • skin rash
    • blood not clotting well (easy bruising or bleeding)
    • nausea, vomiting, constipation
    • itching, agitation

    Rare

    • a severe drop in the number of white blood cells (you become more prone to infections)
    • shortness of breath

    Stop taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • allergic reaction (skin rash, flaking skin, boils, sore lips and mouth, swollen face, fever, sudden wheezing, fluttering or chest tightness)
    • signs of blood disorder (easy bruising, sore throat or other signs of infection)
    • pancreas inflammation (severe pain in the abdomen and back, with fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting)
    • serious skin reactions (skin reddening, blisters, rash)
    • liver and kidney problems (on long-term use)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If you still feel constipated, contact your doctor.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If you still feel nauseous and vomiting, contact your doctor.

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin more. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your skin rash gets worse.

    Alcohol

    Consult your doctor

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION. Before taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have chronic alcoholism.

    Kidney

    Use with Caution

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients with severe liver problems, liver problems due to excessive alcohol intake, or have Gilberts syndrome (liver doesn't process bilirubin properly). Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION if you are allergic to Paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Before taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you:

    • have fructose intolerance or any other type of sugar intolerance
    • have sepsis (circulation of bacteria and their toxins in the blood leading to organ damage)
    • are malnourished
    • are glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficient (enzyme deficiency)
    • have haemolytic anaemia (decreased red blood cells which can make the skin pale yellow and cause weakness or breathlessness)
    • have reduced glutathione levels
    • are dehydrated or weigh less than 50 kg

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • medicines used to induce sleep (Ex. phenobarbital, pentobarbital)
    • medicines used in depression (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline)
    • cholestyramine (used to control blood fat levels)
    • warfarin (used for managing blood clots)
    • zidovudine (used to manage HIV infection)
    • other medicines containing paracetamol
    • medicines to manage nausea and vomiting (Ex. metoclopramide, domperidone)
    • medicines used to manage fits (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
    • medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. ethinyl estradiol, norethindrone)
    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. flucloxacillin, chloramphenicol)

    Overdosage:

    If you, your child, or anyone else accidentally take too much of MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of MACFAST 250MG SUSPENSION overdose are delayed, serious liver damage, paleness, nausea, sweating, vomiting, loss of appetite and stomach pain.
