    Introduction About LUPIRTIN CAPSULE

    LUPIRTIN CAPSULE contains Flupirtine which belongs to a group of medicines called Nonopioid, Non-NSAID analgesics. It is used in the management of acute and chronic pain (such as primary headache, tumor pain, menstrual cramps, pain after traumatologic/orthopaedic operations and injuries and painful increased muscle tone of the posture and motor muscles).  

    LUPIRTIN CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with liver problems. Before taking LUPIRTIN CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, had or have a history of tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or if you are allergic to Flupirtine. LUPIRTIN CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless clearly advised by the doctor.

    LUPIRTIN CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) unless deemed necessary and it should be used with caution in elderly patients, especially in patients with kidney problems. The most common side effects of taking LUPIRTIN CAPSULE are fatigue, dizziness, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation and diarrhea. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    Uses Of LUPIRTIN CAPSULE

    • Manage acute and chronic pain (such as primary headache, tumor pain, menstrual cramps, pain after traumatologic/orthopaedic operations and injuries and painful increased muscle tone of the posture and motor muscles)

    How LUPIRTIN CAPSULE Works

    LUPIRTIN CAPSULE works by managing the transmission of pain signals by blocking neuronal excitability and reducing the calcium influx into the cells that is responsible for the sense of pain and inflammation produced at the site of injury and damage and hence it is useful in providing relief from pain, including that is associated with muscle tension.

    How to use LUPIRTIN CAPSULE

    Take LUPIRTIN CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water and do not chew or crush the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age and body weight.

    Side Effects Of LUPIRTIN CAPSULE

    Stop taking LUPIRTIN CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:     

    • Signs of hepatic encephalopathy (forgetfulness, confusion, breath with a sweet or musty odor, shaking of the hands or arms, disorientation and slurred speech)
    • Signs of drug-induced hepatitis (stomach pain, tiredness, fever, nausea, vomiting, dark urine and pale-colored stools)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lot of fluids, such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea and consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Dry Mouth

    Sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can make your mouth dry, use mouthwash that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Avoid smoking or using tobacco products. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Headache

    Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating oily rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Kidney

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking LUPIRTIN CAPSULE, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • Medicines that manage or manages blood clot (Ex. warfarin, dicumarol)
    • Paracetamol (used to reduce fever and inflammation)
    • Carbamazepine (used to manage epilepsy)
    • Diazepam (used to manage anxiety and alcohol withdrawal)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of LUPIRTIN CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
