Introduction About LOTEMED EYE DROPS
LOTEMED EYE DROPS contains Loteprednol which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to manage post-operative inflammation and pain following eye surgery.
Before using LOTEMED EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, any eye infection, or recently had cataract surgery. LOTEMED EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant women only if advised by the doctor. LOTEMED EYE DROPS should be used with caution among breastfeeding mothers. LOTEMED EYE DROPS should be used with caution in children (from birth to 11 years of age) and in elderly patients.
Your doctor may advise you to avoid contact lenses and monitor the pressure inside your eyes during management with LOTEMED EYE DROPS. The most common side effects associated with use of LOTEMED EYE DROPS are inflammation in the anterior chamber of the eye, eye pain and foreign body sensation in the eye. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms bothers you.

How LOTEMED EYE DROPS Works
LOTEMED EYE DROPS reduces inflammation in the eye by inhibiting the inflammatory response (called prostaglandins) and various processes associated with inflammation and it probably delays or slows healing.
How to use LOTEMED EYE DROPS
Use LOTEMED EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Before using, wash your hands properly. Invert closed container and shake once to fill tip before instilling the medicine. Apply one to two drops of LOTEMED EYE DROPS into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye for the time and duration specified by your doctor (preferably four times daily starting the day after surgery and continuing throughout the first 2 weeks of the post-operative period). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and time interval for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the condition.

How To Manage Side Effects

Rest your eyes by closing or sleeping. Avoid bright lights, reading, watching television, and working on the computer. Keep eyes closed and gently massage your eyes for few seconds to relieve the muscles. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

LOTEMED EYE DROPS is not recommended for use if you:
- have viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva such as herpes simplex keratitis (infection of the cornea)
- have vaccinia and varicella
- have mycobacterial infection of the eye
- have fungal disease of the ocular structures
Before using LOTEMED EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you:
- have glaucoma (progressive condition causing damage to the optic nerve of the eyes due to increased pressure inside the eyes leading to blindness)
- have history of viral eye infection caused by herpes simplex
- diseases causing thinning of the cornea or sclera

Overdosage:

Q: Can I wear contact lenses while using LOTEMED EYE DROPS?
A: No. LOTEMED EYE DROPS contains a preservative called benzalkonium chloride which may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. You are recommended to remove contact lenses before using this medicine and you can put them back after 15 minutes of using the medicine.
