    Introduction About LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE

    LIPIKIND AS 20 Capsule is used for the management of dyslipidemia associated with atherosclerotic arterial disease with risk of myocardial infarction, stroke or peripheral vascular disease. It is a combination of Atorvastatin and Aspirin which belongs to the group of medicines known as Statins and Non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents respectively. LIPIKIND AS 20 Capsule works by blocking an enzyme required in the body to make cholesterol. It lowers the bad cholesterol (LDL), and triglycerides and raises the good cholesterol (HDL) and also decreases the formation of harmful blood clots.

    LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients hypoprothrombinaemia, haemophilia and active peptic ulceration. It should be used with caution in patients with rhabdomyolysis, hypothyroidism, hereditary muscular disorders or muscular toxicity with a statin or fibrate. LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. Contact your doctor before taking. LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking the medicine.     Efficacy and safety in patients older than 70 years of age using recommended doses are similar to those seen in the general population. Consult your doctor before taking LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE. It is well tolerated, but the main side-effects are muscle pain, diarrhoea, nausea, joint pain, minor bleedings and allergic reactions.     LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE is a combination of Atorvastatin and Aspirin. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering agents blocks an enzyme required in the body to make cholesterol.     Take LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.     How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for manageing diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following:

    • CYP3A4 inhibitors (Ex. ciclosporin, telithromycin, clarithromycin, delavirdine, stiripentol, ketoconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole)
    • HIV protease inhibitors (Ex. ritonavir, lopinavir, atazanavir, indinavir, darunavir)
    • CYP3A4 inducers (Ex. efavirenz, rifampin, St. John's Wort)
    • Gemfibrozil and fibric acid derivatives
    • Selective cholesterol-absorption inhibitors (Ex. ezetimibe)
    • Cardiac glycosides (Ex. digoxin)
    • Oral contraceptives
    • Coumarin derivatives (Ex. warfarin)
    • Oral hypoglycaemic agents
    • Anti-convulsant (Ex. Phenytoin, Sodium valproate)
    • Corticosteroids
    • Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (Ex. acetazolamide and salicylates)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of LIPIKIND AS 20 CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose include vomiting, dehydration, tinnitus, vertigo, deafness, sweating, warm extremities with bounding pulses, increased respiratory rate and hyperventilation.
