Introduction About LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION contains Lincomycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Lincosamides. LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION is used alone/combined with other antibiotics to manage serious infections caused by susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci bacteria in affected individuals when other antibiotics become ineffective to manage the disease due to penicillin allergy/ bacterial resistance.
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to lincomycin, and/or clindamycin. It is also not recommended for use in patients with minor bacterial/viral infections.
Before administering LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have stomach problems (such as gastrointestinal disease), monilial infection (yeast infection), lung problems (such as asthma), kidney problems (severe renal dysfunction), and/or liver problems (such as impaired hepatic function).
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be used with caution during pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. The medicine is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless it is clearly necessary since the medicine may pass through breast milk.
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in children and adolescents (aged above 1 month to 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above) after consulting the doctor.
The common side effects of receiving LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION are diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, swelling near the injection site, and/or dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.

How LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION Works
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION works by binding to bacterial genetic material (RNA) and cause inhibition of synthesis of certain essential proteins in bacteria which leads to its destruction and manage its spread to other parts of the body thus managing infections caused by susceptible bacteria in affected individuals.
How to use LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse as an intravenous injection in a vein, intramuscular injection in a muscle, and/or subconjunctival injection underneath the conjunctiva lining the eyelid. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION
Common
- diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting
- swelling near the injection site
- dizziness
Rare
- aplastic anaemia and pancytopenia (deficiency of blood cells)
- erythema multiforme (skin disorder causing raised red rashes)
- exfoliative and vesiculobullous dermatitis (inflammatory skin diseases)
- renal dysfunction due to azotemia (condition marked by elevated levels of urea and nitrogen in blood), oliguria (low urine output), proteinuria (condition marked by excess protein in urine)
- cardiopulmonary arrest (sudden and unexpected loss of heart function & breathing)
Stop receiving LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION and consult your doctor immediately if you are experience any of the following side effects:
- severe diarrhoea
- allergic reactions such as anaphylactoid reaction associated with symptoms such as sudden swelling of the mouth/throat/lips, difficulty breathing, rash, blisters and/or red itchy welts
- mouth irritation, itching, red itchy welts
- urination problems
- trouble hearing
- severe skin reactions
How To Manage Side Effects
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Nausea and vomiting:
Receive LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Inform your doctor if the condition worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.

Pregnancy
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be used with caution during pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine.
Breastfeeding
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless it is clearly necessary since the medicine may pass through breast milk and can cause serious side effects in nursing child. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive/operate machines if you feel dizzy after receiving LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION.
Kidney
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease such as severe renal dysfunction. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Liver
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver disease such as impaired hepatic function. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Allergy
Do not receive LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION if you are allergic to lincomycin, clindamycin, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with lung problems such as asthma. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Others
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:
- have minor bacterial/viral infections
Before receiving LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION, inform the doctor if you:

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- erythromycin (used to manage bacterial infection)
- kanamycin (used to manage serious bacterial infection)
- phenytoin (sued to manage epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia)
- muscle-relaxing medications (used to manage muscle spasm/muscle spasticity)
Overdosage:
LINCOPRIDE 300MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
