Introduction About LABETOPAL INJECTION
LABETOPAL INJECTION is used to lower severely increased blood pressure, especially prior to a surgery, during pregnancy, when under anaesthesia or following a heart attack. It contains Labetalol as an active ingredient which is an alpha, beta adrenergic blocker. It relaxes the blood vessels supplying the heart and improves blood flow and oxygen supply, reduces the strain on the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more efficiently with less pressure.
LABETOPAL INJECTION should be used under medical supervision. It will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein (intravenously). Before receiving LABETOPAL INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems.
LABETOPAL INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with heart block or sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock, uncontrollable heart failure, on-going low blood pressure, very slow heart rate or Prinzmetal angina.
You must also inform your doctor if you have Prinzmetal angina, diabetes or if you are scheduled for any surgery (including cataract surgery) in the upcoming days as a precaution.
LABETOPAL INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, hypotension (low blood pressure) or shock. It is also not suitable for use in patients with heart block, history of heart attack or heart failure.
LABETOPAL INJECTION should be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
The most common side effects of receiving LABETOPAL INJECTION are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation problems, dizziness while standing up, nasal congestion and raised liver enzymes in the blood. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect troubles you.

How LABETOPAL INJECTION Works
LABETOPAL INJECTION contains labetalol as an active ingredient which is an alpha, beta adrenergic blocker. It works by blocking the actions of certain chemical messengers (such as adrenaline and noradrenaline) in our body that controls the functions of the heart, brain, kidneys and lungs. This action relaxes the blood vessels supplying the heart and improves blood flow and oxygen supply, reduces the strain on the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more efficiently with less pressure.
How to use LABETOPAL INJECTION
LABETOPAL INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein (intravenously).
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Ensure you stay hydrated, as dehydration is a common trigger. Eating regular, balanced meals helps maintain stable blood sugar levels. When feeling dizzy, sit or lie down immediately to prevent falls. Move slowly when changing positions to avoid sudden drops in blood pressure. Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and smoking can also reduce dizziness. Additionally, manage stress through relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation. If dizziness persists or is severe, consult a healthcare professional to rule out serious conditions and receive appropriate management.
