    Introduction About KERAGLO AD LOTION

    KERAGLO AD LOTION contains Ketoconazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungals. It is used in adults to manage fungal and yeast infections which may appear on the skin of the hands, feet, genital area, trunk, groin, scalp, face, chest or back.

    KERAGLO AD LOTION is not recommended for eye infections. Before applying KERAGLO AD LOTION, inform your doctor if you are using a cream, ointment or lotion that contains a steroid.

    KERAGLO AD LOTION can be used if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, however, consult your doctor for advice. KERAGLO AD LOTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age).

    The most common side effects of applying KERAGLO AD LOTION are burning sensation, skin redness, or itching. If any of the symptoms worsen, contact your doctor.

    Uses Of KERAGLO AD LOTION

    Manages the fungal or yeast infections of skin appearing on:

    • trunk, chest, back
    • hands, feet
    • scalp, face
    • groin, genitals

    How KERAGLO AD LOTION Works

    KERAGLO AD LOTION reduces fungal infection by inhibiting the growth of the fungus by weakening the structure and function of the fungal cell membrane.

    How to use KERAGLO AD LOTION

    Apply KERAGLO AD LOTION as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Wash the infected area and dry it well.  Apply it to the affected and immediate surrounding area with clean fingers. Unless the affected skin is on your hands, wash your hands with soap and water after using KERAGLO AD LOTION in order to stop you from spreading the infection to other parts of your body or to other people.

    Keep using KERAGLO AD LOTION until a few days after all symptoms have completely disappeared. This is to manage your symptoms from recurring.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Usually, you will see improvement after 4 weeks but if you don’t, talk to your doctor.

    Side Effects Of KERAGLO AD LOTION

    Common

    • burning sensation
    • skin redness or itching

    Uncommon

    • hypersensitivity
    • raised blisters or inflammation of the skin
    • shedding of the skin
    • problems where the medicine is applied (bleeding, discomfort, dryness, inflammation, tingling)
    • skin irritation like rash
    • sticky skin

    Rare

    Stop applying KERAGLO AD LOTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • severe irritation or reddening of the skin where the medicine has been applied, or other signs of allergy during initial management days
    • peeling or blistering of the skin

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Rash:

    Applying a cold compress, damp cloth, or cool showers can bring immediate relief to swelling and reduce itching. Avoid hot showers because hot water can further irritate your skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your skin rash persists.

    KERAGLO AD LOTION can be used if you are pregnant, however, consult your doctor for advice.

    Breastfeeding

    KERAGLO AD LOTION can be used if you are breast-feeding, however, consult your doctor for advice.

    Driving and Using Machines

    KERAGLO AD LOTION is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or to use machinery.

    Allergy

    Do not apply KERAGLO AD LOTION if you are allergic to Ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    KERAGLO AD LOTION is not recommended for eye infections. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Use in pediatrics:

    KERAGLO AD LOTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before applying KERAGLO AD LOTION, inform your doctor if you are using the following medicines:

    • medicines used to manage inflammatory conditions (Ex. betamethasone, hydrocortisone)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally apply too much of KERAGLO AD LOTION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include burning sensation, redness or swelling.

    How often should I apply KERAGLO AD LOTION?

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of KERAGLO AD LOTION for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Depending on the infection type, management may last 2 to 6 weeks. Do not apply it for more duration than advised by your doctor.

    What if I swallow KERAGLO AD LOTION?

    Accidental swallowing of small quantities of KERAGLO AD LOTION is usually harmless but, consult your doctor immediately if you or anyone else swallow it. Take the medicine with you for the doctor to know what you have ingested.

    How do I apply KERAGLO AD LOTION?

    Apply KERAGLO AD LOTION as directed by your physician. Wash the infected area and dry it properly. Keep a towel and a flannel for your personal use to manage infecting anyone else. Apply the medicine gently into the affected area and surrounding skin with clean fingers. Clothing which touches the infected areas should be washed and changed frequently. Consult your doctor if you have any doubts regarding its use.

    What if I forget to apply KERAGLO AD LOTION?

    If you forget to apply KERAGLO AD LOTION, use as per the directions next time you apply it. Do not use the medicine two times to make up for the missed dose.

    Can I stop applying KERAGLO AD LOTION?

    Do not stop applying KERAGLO AD LOTION without asking your doctor. You will usually see signs of improvement after 4 weeks. If not, talk to your doctor. Continue using the medicine until a few days after all symptoms have completely disappeared. Even after your skin is completely managed, you sometimes have to apply the medicine once weekly or once per 2 weeks to manage your symptoms from coming back.

    Can I use other medicines with KERAGLO AD LOTION for my skin condition?

    Before using KERAGLO AD LOTION, inform your doctor if you are taking, have taken, or might take any other medicine, including prescription, over the counter or any herbal medicine. If you have been regularly using a lotion or cream, containing a steroid (Ex. betamethasone or hydrocortisone) for your skin condition, you should wait for two weeks before starting management with KERAGLO AD LOTION. This will stop your condition flaring up while KERAGLO AD LOTION starts to work. If you have any queries about stopping your steroid lotion or cream, consult your doctor.
