    INTRODUCTION ABOUT KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION contains Atracurium which belongs to the group of medicines called Muscle relaxants. It relaxes your muscles and keeps your body still (immobile) during a surgery. It also relaxes the airway muscles which help in artificial breathing and in facilitating easy insertion of breathing tubes into the airways.

    Before receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have a history of asthma or allergic conditions, any nerve or muscle disorders, electrolyte imbalance or if you are severely dehydrated.

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. However, it may be used during a caesarean section in pregnant women under close supervision.

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION may cause difficulty in breathing which is due to relaxation of muscle involved in breathing. In such cases, your doctor might provide you with additional ventilation support until the effect of KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION wears off.

    Other most common side effects of receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION are pain or irritation at the site of injection, slow of fast heart rate, low or high blood pressure and flushing of skin. Inform your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    HOW KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION WORKS

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve signals from the nerve fibers to the muscles. As a result, it causes muscle relaxation and help you stay immobile during surgeries. KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION can also relax the airway muscles which helps in easy insertion of breathing tubes into the airways and in artificial breathing.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously) under close monitoring. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.

    SIDE EFFECTS OF KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION

    COMMON

    • slow or very fast heartbeat
    • changes in blood pressure (low or high)
    • difficulty in breathing
    • flushing
    • pain, itching or irritation at the site of injection
    • redness or itchy rashes of the skin

    RARE

    • bronchospasm (tightness of airway muscles)

    Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION:

    • severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, severe itching of the skin with raised lumps, blisters in the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat with difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • fits, cardiac arrest

    HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

    Injection Site Reactions

    Place an ice pack on the injected site. Do not move the affected area frequently. If the symptom worsens, consult your doctor.

    PREGNANCY

    Monitoring required

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used in pregnant women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant before receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION. However, KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION can be used during a caesarean section in pregnant women under close medical supervision.

    BREASTFEEDING

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it. The nursing infant should be monitored closely when the mother receives this medicine.

    DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

    Use with Caution

    Do not drive or operate any machines until the effects of this medicine wears off completely.

    ALLERGY

    Contraindicated

    Talk to your doctor before receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Atracurium or to any other muscle relaxants (such as pancuronium).

    LUNGS

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with a history of asthma. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

    HEART DISEASE

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with heart problems. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

    USE IN PEDIATRICS

    Consult your doctor

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used in infants, children, and in adolescents (aged above 1 month until 18 years) under close medical supervision. It is not suitable for use in newborns aged below 1 month of age.

    USE IN GERIATRICS

    Use with Caution

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before receiving it.

    OTHERS

    Before receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION, inform your physician if you:

    • have problems in blood circulation
    • have a history of allergic reactions
    • have nerve or muscle disorder (such as myasthenia gravis, poliomyelitis, Eaton-Lambert syndrome etc.)
    • have severe electrolyte disorders (abnormal levels of sodium, potassium and chloride in blood)
    • are suffering from burns

    INTERACTIONS

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before receiving KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • lithium (a medicine used to manage bipolar disorder)
    • quinine (a medicine used to manage malaria)
    • neomycin, streptomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin, lincosamide and polypeptide antibiotics, acylamino-penicillin antibiotics, and dihydrostreptomycin (used to manage bacterial infection)
    • medicines used to manage irregular heartbeat (such as quinidine, amiodarone, propafenone, lidocaine, procainamide, digoxin)
    • phenytoin, carbamazepine and thiopental (used to manage fits and seizures)
    • diuretics (used to improve urine output) Ex. furosemide, chlorothiazide, acetazolamide
    • medicines used to manage heart problems (such as propranolol, diltiazem, nifedipine, nicardipine, oxprenolol, trimetaphan, hexamethonium and verapamil)
    • medicines used to manage rheumatism (such as chloroquine, d-penicillamine)
    • corticosteroids (used to manage pain and inflammation) such as prednisolone, methylprednisolone
    • anesthetics (medicines that causes loss of consciousness) such as isoflurane, desflurane, sevoflurane and enflurane, halothane, ketamine
    • dantrolene (a muscle relaxant)
    • magnesium sulphate (used to manage abnormally high blood pressure in pregnant women)
    • chlorpromazine (a medicine used to manage psychiatric disorders)

    Overdosage:

    KABITRAN 10MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
