    Introduction About ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL contains Isotretinoin which belongs to the group of medicines called Retinoids. It is used in adults and adolescents to manage acne vulgaris. Acne is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by spots, oily skin, nodular lesions etc. on the face, chest, and back, which can be painful.

    Your doctor might advise you to avoid using sunlamps and spending a long time in the sun while using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL and to use sunscreen product and protective clothing to manage sunburn.

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use if you or any of your family members have skin cancer. Before using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL, inform your doctor if you have any allergies, or other skin problems like eczema, red skin, broken blood vessels and tiny pimples usually on the central area of the face, or redness and soreness around the mouth.

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use in pregnant women, women planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding women. Use a reliable method of contraception while you are using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL to manage pregnancy. It is not for use in children so, consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    The most common side effects of using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL are skin redness, flaking, pain, itching, irritation, tenderness, etc. If any of the symptoms get worse, consult your doctor.

    How ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL Works

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL reduces acne by making your skin less oily, loosening blackheads and whiteheads and stopping new blackheads, whiteheads and spots from forming, and lowering the number of red, inflamed acne spots.

    How to use ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL

    Use ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Use it once daily at night time over all of the affected areas. Avoid getting it on your mouth, lips, and eyes. Do not use ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL on any irritated areas of the skin (Ex. cuts, grazes, sunburn, or broken skin).

    Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration of therapy for you according to your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL unless your doctor advises you to stop.

    Side Effects Of ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL

    Common

    • skin redness, flaking, pain, itching, irritation, dryness, and tenderness
    • burning feeling on the skin, especially on the first application
    • stinging on the site of application

    Rare

    • darkening of fair skin or lightening of darker skin
    • sensitivity to sunlight

    Stop using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL and consult your doctor immediately in case you experience any of the following:

    • allergic reaction (wheezing, swollen lips or mouth, trouble breathing, hay fever, hives)
    • severe skin burning, peeling or itching

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Skin rash:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can further irritate your skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your skin rash persists.

    Pregnancy

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use in pregnant women and women planning a pregnancy. Use a reliable method of contraception while you are using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL to manage pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using it. Inform your doctor if you become pregnant during management with ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL.

    Breastfeeding

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate machinery after taking ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL unless you know how this medicine affects you.

    Allergy

    Do not take ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL if you are allergic to Isotretinoin, foods, dyes, preservatives, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use if you:

    • or any of your family members had skin cancer

    Before using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL inform your doctor if you:

    • have eczema or redness of the skin
    • have rosacea (broken blood vessels and tiny pimples generally on the central area of the face)
    • have perioral dermatitis (redness and soreness around the mouth)

    Use in paediatrics:

    ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL is not recommended for use in children. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Use in geriatrics:

    Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL depending on your age, body weight and health condition. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before using ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • other medicines used to manage acne (Ex. benzoyl peroxide, niacinamide)

    Overdosage:

    In case you or anybody else accidentally use too much of ISOTROIN 0.05% GEL, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
