    Introduction About IDROFOS 150MG(L)

IDROFOS 150MG(L) contains Ibandronic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Bisphosphonates. It is used to reverse bone loss and increase bone mass in women, lower chances of bone fracture and to manage postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a thinning and weakening of the bones, which is common in women after the menopause. Symptoms include back pain, loss of height over time, stooped posture and easy bone fracture.

Along with this management, your doctor might advise you to maintain a healthy lifestyle like eating a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, walking or any other weight-bearing exercise, maintaining good oral hygiene, avoiding smoking and alcohol consumption. Prior to the management your doctor might want you to take X rays to understand your existing condition.

IDROFOS 150MG(L) is not recommended for use in patients having certain problems with gullet/food pipe (esophagus) such as narrowing or difficulty swallowing, can’t stand or sit upright for at least one hour at a time and low blood calcium levels.

Before taking IDROFOS 150MG(L), inform your doctor if you have or ever had problems with mouth or teeth (poor dental health, gum disease or tooth extraction), have not had a dental check up for a long time, are a smoker, have cancer, disturbances of mineral metabolism (vitamin D deficiency), kidney disease, swallowing or digestive problems.

IDROFOS 150MG(L) is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. IDROFOS 150MG(L) is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. The most common side effects of taking IDROFOS 150MG(L) are headache, heartburn, discomfort in swallowing, nausea, indigestion and stomach pain.
