Introduction About HYOCIMAX MF TABLET
HYOCIMAX MF TABLET is a combination of Hyoscine and Mefenamic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Antispasmodics and Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) respectively. It is used to manage mensural pain and helps to reduce menstrual discomfort and cramps by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and gut.
HYOCIMAX MF TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma, heart diseases (heart failure, high blood pressure), impaired kidney function and impaired liver function. HYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from increased pressure in eyes (glaucoma), myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness and fatigue), gastrointestinal conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, severe gastritis and ulcerative colitis, paralysis of intestine (paralytic ileus), toxic dilatation of intestine (megacolon). Consult your doctor before taking.
HYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant or those who are planning to get pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. The most common side effects of taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting dizziness, light-headedness. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

It is used to:
- manage mensural pain
- reduce menstrual discomfort and cramps by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and gut
How HYOCIMAX MF TABLET Works
HYOCIMAX MF TABLET is a combination of Hyoscine and Mefenamic acid. Hyoscine relaxes the muscles in the stomach and gut and stops sudden muscle contractions. It also relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
How to use HYOCIMAX MF TABLET
Take HYOCIMAX MF TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow HYOCIMAX MF TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of HYOCIMAX MF TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Stop taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reactions (nettle rash, itching rash, redness of the skin, blistering of the mouth, eyes, and genital region, and patchy areas of rash, peeling skin)
- difficulty breathing, feeling faint or dizzy
- painful red eye with loss of vision
- any unusual bruising or bleeding such as nosebleeds, pinpoint red spots on the skin, unusual purple bruise-like rash on the skin or in the mouth
- feeling tired, breathlessness, and looking pale, fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers, repeated infections or infections
- seizures (fits)
- headache, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, muscle cramps - sudden headache, stiff neck, fever, sensitivity to bright light, drowsiness, and muscle pain, with or without a rash - fever, rash, nausea, aches and pain
- passing urine more or less than usual, passing red urine or passing urine at night
- sudden loss or blurred vision, loss of colour vision, eye pain which aggravates with eye movement
- headache, on waking in the morning
- pain radiating towards the back, often aggravates when lying down, nausea, vomiting, fever due to inflammation of pancreas
- yellowing of skin or eyes, pale faeces and dark urine, unexplained persistent nausea, stomach problems, loss of appetite or unusual tiredness, elevated liver function tests
- worsening of colitis and Crohn’s disease
How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea
Hydrate yourself by drinking lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices. Avoid taking any medication for managing diarrhea on your own. Consult your doctor if symptom worsens.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely if you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excess of alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if symptom worsens.

Headache
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if needed. Do not consume too much of alcohol. Consult your doctor if symptom worsens.

Nausea And Vomiting
Try to take HYOCIMAX MF TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food.

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women or who are planning to get pregnant. Consult your doctor before taking.

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive or operate heavy machines if you experience drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue or have any problem with your vision after taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET.

Alcohol
Consult your doctorAvoid consumption of alcohol while taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET because it might increase risk of stomach bleeding.

Kidney
ContraindicatedHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Liver
ContraindicatedHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not take HYOCIMAX MF TABLET if you are allergic to Hyoscine, Mefenamic acid or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Lungs
Use with CautionHYOCIMAX MF TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with pre-existing asthma and aspirin-sensitive asthma. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Heart Disease
Consult your doctorHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe heart problems or in those who have just had bypass surgery. HYOCIMAX MF TABLET must be used with caution in patients with heart diseases (such as very fast heart rate and other heart problems) as well as patients with previous stroke. ContraindicatedHYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Use In Geriatrics
Use with CautionHYOCIMAX MF TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (65 years and above). Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
HYOCIMAX MF TABLET is not recommended or use if you have:
- increased pressure in eyes (glaucoma)
- myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness and fatigue)
- gastrointestinal conditions
Before taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- difficulty or pain passing water (prostate problems)
- problem with your thyroid gland such as an overactive thyroid gland
- abdominal (stomach pain) pain with nausea, changes in your bowel movements, abdominal tenderness, low blood pressure, lightheadedness, or blood in your bowel movements
- upset stomach after taking pain killers such as aspirin
- bleeding disorder or if you are going to have a major operation
- connective tissue disorder
- epilepsy (fits)
- dehydrated (thirsty with dry skin, dark urine, dry mouth, headache)

A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking HYOCIMAX MF TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines used to correct heart rhythm (Ex. digoxin, sotalol)
- medicine used to manage HIV infection (Ex. zidovudine)
- medicines used to manage high blood pressure (Ex. atenolol, ramipril, valsartan, diltiazem)
- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) to reduce inflammation (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac)
- immunosuppresants that suppress the immune system (Ex. ciclosporin, tacrolimus, methotrexate)
- medicines used as blood thinners in blood (Ex. aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel)
- medicines used to manage gout (Ex. probenecid)
- diuretics that increase in urine production (Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
- antibiotics used to manage infection such as aminoglycosides (Ex. amikacin, tobramycin, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin)
- oral anti-diabetic drugs to manage type 2 diabetes (Ex. glipizide, glibenclamide)
- corticosteroids used as anti-inflammatory (Ex. prednisone, prednisolone)
- medicines that bind to protein in the blood (Ex. warfarin and diazepam)
- medicine used to terminate pregnancy (Ex. mifepristone)
- medicines used as antidepressants such as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (Ex. paroxetine)
- medicines for depression such as tetracyclic or tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. doxepin)
- medicines for allergies and travel sickness such as antihistamines (Ex. diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate chlorpheniramine, meclizine, and promethazine)
- medicines used to control your heart rate (Ex. quinidine, disopyramide)
- medicines for severe mental illness such as antipsychotics (Ex. haloperidol, fluphenazine)
- medicines usually used for breathing problems (Ex. tiotropium, ipratropium or atropine-like medicines)
- antiviral medicine for managing for Parkinson’s disease and flu (Ex. amantadine)
- medicines that manage nausea (Ex. metoclopramide)
- lithium (used to manage mood swings and some types of depression)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more of HYOCIMAX MF TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are headache, abdominal pain, or other abnormal stomach symptoms, nausea, vomiting, rarely diarrhoea, disorientation, excitation, tiredness, ringing in the ears and fainting.
