    Introduction About GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is a combination of Metformin and Nateglinide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used in the management of type 2 diabetes in adult patients.

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems, type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). It should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    The most common side effects of taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET are nausea, stomach upset, sweating, diarrhoea, dizziness, shaking, weakness, hunger, feeling heartbeat fast, tiredness. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET Works

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET effectively controls blood glucose levels where Metformin is an antidiabetic medicine. It makes the body more sensitive to insulin (a hormone involved in glucose metabolism). This helps our body cells to utilize more amount of the circulating blood glucose, thereby reducing blood sugar levels. Additionally, it also manages glucose production by the liver and reduces its absoprtion in the body. Nateglinide works by stimulating the pancreas to produce insulin more quickly, which helps to keep blood sugar levels under control after meals.

    How to use GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET

    Take GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET preferably with meals or as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET

    Common

    • Nausea, vomiting
    • Diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of appetite
    • Changes in taste, metallic taste
    • Sweating
    • Dizziness
    • Shaking

    Stop taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • Serious allergic reaction (such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • Signs of liver problems (such as nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, unusual or unexplained tiredness, loss of appetite, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes)
    • Signs of lactic acidosis (cold hands or feet, dizziness, or light-headedness, slow or irregular heartbeat, weakness or tiredness, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, sleepiness or drowsiness, stomach pains, nausea, or vomiting)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juices. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not self-manage diarrhea on your own. Consult your doctor if your diarrhea becomes uncontrollable.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.

    Indigestion

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if indigestion persists.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the stomach pain worsens.

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    Contraindicated

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Use with Caution

    Do not drive or operate any machines after taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET as it reduces your ability to concentrate or react due to low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).

    Alcohol

    Consult your doctor

    Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET, as it may lead to a decrease in blood sugar levels.

    Kidney

    Contraindicated

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems (including kidney infections). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with other liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET if you are allergic to Metformin, Nateglinide, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    Contraindicated

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe infection of lungs or respiratory tract. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Heart Disease

    Contraindicated

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart problems (such as acute heart failure or a recent heart attack). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Contraindicated

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adults under 18 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) due to increased risk of low blood sugar. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • Have severe, uncontrollable diabetes
    • Have lactic acidosis or ketoacidosis (buildup of lactic acid or ketones in the body)
    • Are dehydrated (due to severe vomiting or diarrhea during recent days)
    • Have any systemic infection which is severe
    • Have shock or problems in blood circulation
    • Have problems in breathing
    • Are an alcoholic
    • Have type 1 diabetes (i.e., your body does not produce any insulin)
    • Have symptoms of severe hyperglycaemia (very high blood sugar and/or diabetic ketoacidosis) such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, weakness, fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath or confusion

    Before taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • Are about to have any X-ray or scan
    • Are about a have a major surgery
    • Are in fasting
    • Have problems with drug metabolism
    • Are due to have an operation
    • Have recently suffered a fever, an accident or an infection
    • Are undernourished
    • Have another medical condition that may cause low blood sugar (Ex. an under-active pituitary or adrenal gland)
    • Have intolerance to lactose or other sugars

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:

    • Other medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. teneligliptin, rosiglitazone, pioglitazone, glimepiride)
    • Diuretics (used to reduce edema and to manage hypertension) Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide
    • Medicines used to manage pain and inflammation (such as ibuprofen, celecoxib, aspirin, prednisone and cortisone)
    • Medicines used to manage high blood pressure (such as atenolol, propranolol, captopril, enalapril, ramipril, lisinopril, losartan, valsartan, olmesartan, telmisartan)
    • Medicines used to manage asthma (Ex. salbutamol or terbutaline)
    • Corticosteroids (used to manage pain and inflammation) Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone
    • Verapamil (a medicine used to manage heart problems)
    • Rifampicin (a medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
    • Cimetidine (a medicine used to manage stomach ulcer)
    • Dolutegravir (a medicine used to manage HIV infection)
    • Ranolazine (a medicine used to manage chest pain)
    • Trimethoprim (a medicine used to manage bacterial infection)
    • Vandetanib, crizotinib and olaparib (medicines used to manage cancer)
    • Isavuconazole, fluconazole (a medicine used to manage fungal infection)
    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (medicines used to manage muscle and joint pain) Ex. aceclofenac, diclofenac
    • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used to manage depression) Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine
    • Beta blockers or ACE inhibitors, diuretics (used to manage high blood pressure and certain heart conditions) Ex. propranolol, captopril, furosemide
    • Medicines used to manage dyslipidemia (Ex. gemfibrozil)
    • Medicines used to manage chronic gout (Ex. sulfinpyrazone)
    • Medicines used to manage asthma (Ex. salbutamol)
    • Anabolic hormones Ex. methandrostenolone (used to manage post-menopausal osteoporosis and pituitary-deficient dwarfism)
    • St. John’s Wort, also known as Hypericum perforatum (an herbal medicine used to manage depression)
    • Somatropin (used to manage growth hormone deficiency)
    • Medicines used to manage acromegaly (Ex. lanreotide and octreotide)
    • Medicines used to manage tuberculosis (Ex. rifampin)
    • Medicines used to manage seizures (Ex. phenytoin)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of GLINATE MF 60/500MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include low blood sugar symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, shaking, weakness, hunger, feeling your heart beating fast, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, Stomach pain, Muscle Cramps, Feeling Generally unwell with severe tiredness and difficulty in breathing, eat or drink something containing sugar. If you feel as if you are about to have a severe hypoglycaemic attack (which may lead to loss of consciousness or fits), contact your doctor immediately.
