Introduction About GENOZYME SYRUP
GENOZYME SYRUP is a combination of Diastase and Pepsin which belongs to the group of medicines called Digestives, respectively. It is used to manage indigestion/dyspepsia, loss of appetite, and acidity in affected individuals.
GENOZYME SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients allergic to diastase and pepsin. It is also not recommended for use in patients with Crohn’s disease (inflammatory bowel disease), fibrous tissue in colon, gout (complex form of arthritis), hyperuricemia, and/or stomach/intestinal blockage. Before taking GENOZYME SYRUP, inform your doctor if you suffer from diabetes, and/or have liver/kidney disease.
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution during pregnancy and in breastfeeding women only if necessary since it is not known whether the medicine pass through breast milk. It is not recommended for use in children and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients after consulting your doctor.
The most common side effects of taking GENOZYME SYRUP are abdominal pain, nausea, heartburn, diarrhoea, painful urination, skin rash, and/or stomach upset. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

GENOZYME SYRUP provides relief from indigestion and dyspepsia, where pepsin relives digestive disturbance by breaking down proteins and diastase aids in digestion by breaking down carbohydrates from food providing relief from indigestion and dyspepsia in affected individuals.
How to use GENOZYME SYRUP
Take GENOZYME SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea:
Take GENOZYME SYRUP with/just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich/spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, and drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor if the condition worsens.
Indigestion:
Try to have smaller and more frequent meals and drink slowly. Reduce consumption of coffee, cola, tea, or alcohol and lose weight if you are obese. Try to avoid smoking and don’t have rich, fatty or spicy foods. Consult your doctor and inform if the symptom does not improve.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Rashes:
Do not scratch the affected area. Wear protective clothing while going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

Pregnancy
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy only if necessary. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Breastfeeding
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if necessary since it is not known whether the medicine pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking GENOZYME SYRUP since it may cause heartburn.
Kidney
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Liver
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Allergy
Do not take GENOZYME SYRUP if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to diastase, pepsin, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
GENOZYME SYRUP is not recommended for use if you:
- have Crohn’s disease (inflammatory bowel disease)
- suffer from fibrous tissue formation in colon
- suffer from Gout (complex form of arthritis), hyperuricemia
- suffer from malabsorption of essential nutrients due to short bowel
- have undergone stomach/intestinal tract operation
- suffer from stomach/intestinal blockage
Before taking GENOZYME SYRUP, inform your doctor if you:
- have any history of pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas)
- have diabetes
- are a smoker
- are scheduled for any upcoming surgery
Use in Paediatrics:
GENOZYME SYRUP is generally not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the chid.
Use in Geriatrics:
GENOZYME SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking GENOZYME SYRUP.

A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking GENOZYME SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- acarbose, miglitol (used to manage type 2 diabetes)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of GENOZYME SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital to manage overdose symptoms.
