Introduction About GELUSIL MPS ORIGINAL MINT FLAVOUR CHEWABLE TABLET

GELUSIL MPS Original Mint Flavour Chewable Tablet is an antacid which helps to provide relief from symptoms of hyperacidity (such as heartburn, epigastric discomfort, or their equivalents) associated with indigestion, peptic ulcer, gastritis, peptic esophagitis, and hiatus hernia. It also helps to provide relief from flatulence (gas). It contains activated dimethicone, magnesium hydroxide, dried aluminium hydroxide, magnesium aluminium silicate hydrate as active ingredients which helps to provide relief from indigestion and flatulence.

Aluminium Hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid (helps to digest food) in stomach which raises pH of the stomach and provides relief from hyperacidity (increased acid secretion in stomach). It also forms a protective covering in the stomach which reduces burning sensation and provides relief to it. Magnesium hydroxide also reacts with gastric hydrochloric acid which neutralizes stomach acid.

Always take GELUSIL MPS Original Mint Flavour Chewable Tablet as advised by your physician. Do not swallow the medicine. Chew One or two tablets for 30-60 min after meals or as directed by your physician. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

How GELUSIL MPS ORIGINAL MINT FLAVOUR CHEWABLE TABLET Works

Gelusil MPS Original Mint Flavour Chewable Tablet works through the combined action of its three active ingredients: aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone (activated dimethicone). Each component targets specific aspects of stomach physiology for balanced pH management and gas relief.

    Aluminium Hydroxide Action

Aluminium hydroxide slowly solubilizes in gastric acid to form aluminium chloride and water. This reaction progressively neutralizes hydrochloric acid while raising stomach pH. It also inhibits pepsin activity by maintaining elevated pH levels above optimal enzyme functioning range.

    Magnesium Hydroxide Action

Magnesium hydroxide rapidly reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce magnesium chloride and water. This immediate neutralization partially elevates stomach content pH, complementing aluminium hydroxide's slower action for sustained effect.

    Simethicone (Activated Dimethicone) Action

Simethicone spreads across gas bubble surfaces as an antifoaming agent, reducing surface tension. This causes bubble film rupture through "pinch-off" mechanism, allowing trapped gas coalescence. Free gas can then expel via belching or flatus, preventing foam accumulation.
