    Introduction About GANFORT EYE DROPS

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is a combination of Bimatoprost and Timolol which belongs to the group of medicines called Prostaglandin analogs and Beta-blockers respectively. It is used to manage glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

    Glaucoma is an eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging a nerve in the back of your eye called the optic nerve. Ocular hypertension is an elevated pressure within the eye without damage to any optic nerve and vision loss or blindness.

    Before using GANFORT EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease or any other problems.

    Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before using GANFORT EYE DROPS. Inform your doctor if you wear contact lenses before using GANFORT EYE DROPS.

    The most common side effects of using GANFORT EYE DROPS are eye redness, burning, itching, stinging, irritation of the conjunctiva, eye pain, dry eye, eye irritation, watery eyes, swollen eyelids, and reduced vision. Contact your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    How GANFORT EYE DROPS Works

    GANFORT EYE DROPS works together by reducing the production of liquid and also increasing the amount of liquid that is drained. This reduces the pressure inside the eye.

    How to use GANFORT EYE DROPS

    Use GANFORT EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of GANFORT EYE DROPS

    Common

    • eye redness
    • loss of fat in the eye region which can lead to deepening of your eyelid crease
    • sunken eye
    • drooping eyelid, tightening of the skin around your eye
    • burning, itching, stinging, irritation of the conjunctiva
    • sensitivity to light, eye pain, sticky eyes, dry eyes, feeling of something in the eye
    • small breaks in the surface of the eye with or without inflammation
    • blurred vision
    • redness and itching of the eyelids, hair growing around the eye, darkening of the eyelids, darker skin colour around the eyes
    • longer eyelashes, eye irritation, watery eyes, swollen eyelids, reduced vision
    • runny nose
    • headache

    Uncommon

    • abnormal sensation in the eye
    • iris inflammation
    • painful eyelids, tired eyes, in-growing eyelashes
    • darkening of the iris colour
    • eyelid has moved away from the surface of the eye
    • darkening of eyelashes
    • shortness of breath

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:  

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if required. Do not consume too much of alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Breastfeeding

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel blurred vision, dizziness, eyesight problem, after using GANFORT EYE DROPS.

    Alcohol

    Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with GANFORT EYE DROPS.

    Kidney

    GANFORT EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before using.

    Liver

    GANFORT EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before using.

    Allergy

    Do not use this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Bimatoprost or Timolol or beta-blockers or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is not recommended in patients with respiratory problems such as asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (lung disease which may cause wheeziness, difficulty in breathing and/or long-standing cough) or other types of breathing problems.

    Heart Disease

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is not recommended in patients with heart problems such as low heart rate, heart block, or heart failure. It must be used with caution in patients with coronary heart disease (symptoms can include chest pain or tightness, breathlessness or choking) and lower blood pressure. Consult your doctor before using.

    Others

    Before using GANFORT EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have:

    • poor blood circulation disease  
    • overactivity of the thyroid gland  
    • diabetes  
    • eye surface problems
    • separation of one of the layers within the eyeball after surgery to reduce the pressure in the eye
    • severe allergic reactions
    • macular oedema (swelling of the retina within the eye leading to worsening vision)
    • other eye disorder
    • an operation, including minor surgery and dental work

    Use in pediatrics:

    GANFORT EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before using GANFORT EYE DROPS.

    Use in geriatrics:

    GANFORT EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before using GANFORT EYE DROPS.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before using GANFORT EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are using any of the following medicine:

    • other eye drops (used to manage glaucoma)
    • medicines used to manage lower blood pressure
    • medicines used to manage heart problems
    • medicines used to manage diabetes
    • amiodarone, quinidine (used to manage heart conditions such as irregular or abnormal heartbeat and some types of malaria)
    • fluoxetine and paroxetine (used to manage depression)
    • guanethidine, reserpine (used to manage high blood pressure or heart disease)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else uses much of GANFORT EYE DROPS, contact your doctor immediately or go to a nearby hospital.
