    Introduction About FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION contains Fosfomycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage certain infections in adults and children, including neonates, when the commonly recommended medicines have less or no efficacy. The infections include acute osteomyelitis, complicated urinary tract infections, nosocomial lower respiratory tract infections, bacterial meningitis, and bacteraemia associated with any of the listed infections.

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with heart and kidney diseases, high blood pressure, hyperaldosteronism, high levels of sodium, pulmonary oedema, and liver cirrhosis. Contact your doctor before receiving it.

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION should be used with caution during pregnancy. FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION can be given to children and adolescents. However, the dose and duration will be decided by the doctor. The most common side effects of FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION include retching, stomach ache, and a rash with skin redness. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    It is used to manage certain infections in adults and children including neonates when the commonly recommended medicines have less or no efficacy. The infections include acute osteomyelitis, complicated urinary tract infections, nosocomial lower respiratory tract infections, bacterial meningitis and bacteraemia associated with any of the listed infections.

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION works by managing the enzymatic synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. It exerts a bactericidal effect on the bacteria and thereby helps manage the infection.

    How to use FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION will only be given to you by a doctor or nurse. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor depending on your age, body weight and disease severity.

    Side Effects Of FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION

    Common

    • retching, stomach-ache
    • rash with redness of skin

    Uncommon

    • nausea, vomiting, mild diarrhoea
    • altered taste
    • shortness of breath
    • rash
    • decreased appetite
    • headache
    • dizziness
    • tiredness
    • increased levels of liver enzymes
    • swelling caused due to fluid retention

    Rare

    • pallor, weakness, or breathlessness
    • eosinophilia (elevated white blood cell levels) associated with allergic diseases

    Stop receiving FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • serious allergic reaction (symptoms include breathing or swallowing difficulties, sudden wheezing, dizziness, swelling of face, eyelids, lips and tongue, rash or itching)
    • severe and persistent diarrhoea (may or may not be associated with abdominal pain or fever)
    • jaundice (yellowish discolouration of skin or whites of eyes)
    • confusion, muscle twitching or abnormal heart rhythm
    • pain, burning, redness or swelling along the vein in which the medicine has been infused
    • bleeding and bruising more often than usual

    Breastfeeding

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION should be used with caution in breastfeeding females as it may pass on to the breastmilk. Contact your doctor before receiving it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Contraindicated

    Use of FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION may cause dizziness, therefore it is not recommended to drive or use heavy machines while receiving this medicine.

    Kidney

    Use of FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION in patients with kidney diseases, especially patients undergoing dialysis may require dose reduction. Therefore, contact your doctor before receiving it.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver cirrhosis. Therefore, contact your doctor before receiving it.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not receive FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION if you are allergic to Fosfomycin or any other ingredients of this medicine

    Lungs

    Heart Disease

    • hyperaldosteronism
    • high levels of sodium

    Overdosage:

    FOSFOTAS 4GM INJECTION will be given to you by a doctor or nurse only so there is minimal chance of overdose. However, if you feel you are receiving extra dose of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately.
