Introduction About FOLIACT N TABLET
Foliact-N Tablet is a nutritional supplement used in the management of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, endothelial dysfunction and hyperhomocysteinemia. It contains mecobalamin, pyridoxal-5-phosphate and L-methyl folate as active ingredients to promote optimum health and protects nerve cell in diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Mecobalamin is a neurotropic that enhances the synthesis of proteins in nerve cells, promotes myelinization and axonal regeneration, also helps in the generation of enzyme methionine synthase (regeneration of methionine from homocysteine). It also restores diminished neurotransmitter (acetylcholine) levels. Pyridoxal-5phosphate acts as a coenzyme for various metabolic functions that affect protein, carbohydrate and lipid utilization.
L-methyl folate is the primary biologically active diastereoisomer of folate and the primary form of folate in circulation. It is an essential cofactor for enzymes involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It is also required by the body for the synthesis of purines, pyrimidines and methionine before incorporation into DNA or protein.
