Introduction About FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET
FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET contains Fenofibrate, which belongs to the group of medicines called fibrates. It is used to lower the levels of fat (triglycerides) in the blood. FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET is used along with a low-fat diet, exercise, and weight loss to lower the levels of fat in the blood.
Fenofibrate works by lowering the levels of triglycerides and bad cholesterol (LDL) while raising the levels of good cholesterol (HDL).
FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems, kidney problems, gallbladder problems, or pancreatitis. FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use among pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The most common side effects of taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET may include diarrhea, stomach pain, wind (flatulence), feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting), an increase in the levels of liver enzymes in the blood, and an increase in homocysteine. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.

FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET works by lowering the levels of triglycerides, bad cholesterol (LDL), and total cholesterol while increasing the good cholesterol (HDL) level simultaneously.
How to use FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET
Take FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dose, frequency, and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Side Effects Of FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET
Common
- diarrhea
- stomach pain
- wind (flatulence)
- feeling sick (nausea)
- being sick (vomiting)
- elevated liver enzymes
- increase in homocysteine
Uncommon
- headache
- gallstones
- reduced sex drive
- red itchy rashes on the skin
- elevated creatinine levels
- symptoms of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas leading to abdominal pain)
- thromboembolism, pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung causing chest pain and breathlessness), and deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the leg causing pain, redness, or swelling)
- muscle pain or cramps, muscle inflammation, and weakness
Rare
- hair loss
- increase in urea levels
- increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, sun lamps, and sunbeds
- drop in hemoglobin (that carries oxygen in the blood) and white blood cells (shown in tests)
- stomach pain, and itching
Stop taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing
- cramps or painful, tender, or weak muscles (signs of muscle inflammation or breakdown which can cause kidney damage or even death)
- pancreatitis (Inflamed pancreas) (signs include stomach pain)
- pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) (signs include chest pain and feeling breathless)
- deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in the leg) (signs include pain, redness, or swelling in the leg)
- hepatitis (inflamed liver) (signs include yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice) or an increase in liver enzymes)
How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Indigestion
Eat smaller and more frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Stomach Pain
Try to rest and relax. Take small and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Kidney

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not take FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET if you are allergic to fenofibrate, lactose, some form of sugar, or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.

Lungs
Use with CautionFINOGRAT 145MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with lung diseases such as pulmonary embolism. Contact your doctor before taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET.

Use In Pediatrics
ContraindicatedFINOGRAT 145MG TABLET is generally not recommended to use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET.

Use In Geriatrics
Use with CautionFINOGRAT 145MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (above 70 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET.
Others
FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- gallbladder problems
- pancreatitis
Before taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland)
- have diabetes
- have problems with certain proteins in the blood
- have an alcohol problem
- have a family history of muscle problems
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicine used to thin the blood (anti-coagulants) (Ex. warfarin)
- other medicines are used to control fat levels in the blood (Ex. statins like simvastatin, atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin or fibrates like clofibrate, gemfibrozil)
- medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. rosiglitazone or pioglitazone)
- medicines used to suppress the immune system (Ex. ciclosporin)
- bile acid sequestrants Ex. cholestyramine (medicines used to decrease cholesterol levels)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else have accidentally taken too much of FINOGRAT 145MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
