Introduction About FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET contains Mifepristone which belongs to the group of medicines called Progestin antagonist. It is used as an emergency contraceptive to manage pregnancy in women after an unprotected sexual intercourse. It should be used within 120 hours following sexual intercourse to achieve better birth control.
While taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET avoid consuming grapefruit juice as it may make FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET less effective. FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET should only be used during emergency situations and therefore should not replace a regular contraceptive.
Before taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET inform your doctor if you have any heart problems, blood problems or bleeding disorders. You must also inform your doctor if you have blood clots, anemia, or any nutritional deficiencies.
Do not take FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET if you have severe asthma, severe liver or kidney problems or adrenal failure without consulting your doctor.
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is intended for use as a contraceptive agent. Therefore, it should not be used in women who are pregnant or planning to conceive a child. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women and in female children who have not attained their puberty.
The most common side effects of taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET are heavy vaginal bleeding, delayed periods, tiredness and stomach cramps. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET Works
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is a contraceptive medicine. It works by blocking the actions of a female sex hormone called progesterone which is responsible for sustaining pregnancy. This causes shedding of the uterine layers which makes it more difficult for the foetus to implant and grow and therefore manages pregnancy.
How to use FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET
Take FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration of therapy and frequency of administration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea and vomiting:
Try to take FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Dizziness:
Rest and get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines if you feel dizzy. Limit your alcohol consumption as it may aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if dizziness worsens.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is indicated as a contraceptive agent (birth control pill). Therefore, it should not be used in women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. However, consult your doctor before taking it.
Breastfeeding
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass to the nursing infant through the breast milk. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you experience headache or dizziness after taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET.
Kidney
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with kidney diseases (such as kidney failure). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver disease (such liver failure). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET if you are allergic to mifepristone or to any other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe uncontrollable asthma. It should be used with caution in patients with other respiratory conditions (such as mild asthma or chronic obstructive airway diseases). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Heart Disease
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- suffer from chronic adrenal failure (hormone deficiency caused due to problems in adrenal gland)
- have porphyria (an inherited blood disorder)
- are malnourished
- have sugar intolerance (such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency)
Before taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have any bleeding disorders
- have blood clots or problem in your blood vessels
- have anaemia
Use in Paediatrics:
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET should be used in post pubertal female children (aged between 14-18 years) only if prescribed by the physician. It is not intended for use in male children and should not be used in female children who have not attained their puberty. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in Geriatrics:
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET should be used with caution in the elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- ketoconazole, itraconazole (medicines used in the management of fungal infections)
- erythromycin (a medicine used to manage bacterial infection)
- rifampin (a medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
- dexamethasone (a steroid medicine used to manage asthma, allergies, pain or autoimmune diseases)
- anticonvulsants (used to manage fits or seizures) Ex. phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (used for pain relief) Ex. aspirin, diclofenac, paracetamol
- anticoagulants (used for blood thinning) Ex. warfarin, heparin
- corticosteroids (used to provide relief from pain and inflammation) Ex. prednisone, methylprednisolone
B. Drug - Food interaction:
Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET as it may reduce the effectiveness of FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET. Consult your doctor for advice.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

Yes. FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET may delay your regular menstrual periods. Also, there are chances for sudden spotting or vaginal bleeding while taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET. But there is no reported evidence for long menstrual cycles.
Will the use of FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET produce complete protection from pregnancy?
FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET may only help in managing pregnancy during emergency conditions. You must follow your regular birth control pills along with FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET to achieve successful birth control. After taking FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET you must consult your doctor for advice. Your doctor will analyse your condition and confirm whether pregnancy termination is required or not.
Does FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET stops periods?
No. FIBROCEDE 10 TABLET is a birth control pill used to manage pregnancy. It is not proven to stop periods. However, it may delay your periods or can cause irregular or scanty periods.
