    Introduction About EVALON 1MG TABLET

    EVALON 1MG TABLET contains Estriol which belongs to the group of medicines called Estrogens. EVALON 1MG TABLET is used to manage atrophy of lower urogenital tract (condition that occurs due to lack of female sex hormone (oestrogen) during and after menopause) which includes vaginal complaints (such as dyspareunia, dryness, itching), mild urinary incontinence, and/or pain during urination in women.

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is also used in pre- and post-operative vaginal therapy in postmenopausal women which is also used to manage climacteric complaints such as hot flushes and night sweating in affected women. The medicine is also used as a diagnostic aid to confirm the diagnosis of urogenital atrophy which is also indicated for use to manage infertility due to cervical hostility (condition marked by thickened cervix that manages entry of sperm).

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic (hypersensitive) to Estriol. It is also not recommended for use in patients with/history/suspected of breast cancer, oestrogen dependent malignant tumors (such as endometrial cancer). It is also indicated for use in patients with unexplained vaginal bleeding, unmanageed endometrial hyperplasia (thickened endometrium), any blood clotting disorder, pulmonary embolism (blood clot in lung artery), acute/chronic liver disease, and/or heart attack.

    Before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you suffer from leiomyoma (fibroids), endometriosis (condition that occurs when lining of uterus grows outside the uterus), osteosclerosis (disorder marked by abnormal thickening of bone), and/or have high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis (stones in gall bladder), epilepsy, lung diseases (such as asthma), and/or kidney diseases (such as renal insufficiency/dysfunction).

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as the medicine may pass through milk.

    EVALON 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in adolescent girls (aged 10 to 19 years) only if there is a contraception need and is advised to be used with caution in elderly women (aged above 50 years) after consulting the doctor.

    The most common side effects of taking EVALON 1MG TABLET are breast tenderness, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, vomiting, headache, and/or vaginal itching. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

    Uses Of EVALON 1MG TABLET

    • Manage atrophy of lower urogenital tract (condition that occurs due to lack of female sex hormone (oestrogen) during and after menopause)

    How EVALON 1MG TABLET Works

    EVALON 1MG TABLET works by inducing normalization of vaginal epithelium and restoring normal micro flora and physiological pH in vagina which results in increased resistance of vaginal epithelium cells to infection and inflammation thus managing and providing relief from symptoms of atrophy of lower urogenital tract in affected individuals.  

    How to use EVALON 1MG TABLET

    Take EVALON 1MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of EVALON 1MG TABLET

    Common

    • breast tenderness
    • stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, vomiting
    • headache
    • weight gain
    • hyperpigmentation of skin
    • hair loss
    • vaginal itching, abnormal uterine bleeding

    Rare

    • vaginal bleeding

    Stop taking EVALON 1MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:

    • signs of liver dysfunction such as yellowing of skin or whites of eyes (jaundice)
    • significant increase in blood pressure
    • new onset of migraine-type headache

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea and vomiting:

    Take EVALON 1MG TABLET with/just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich/spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, and drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor if the condition worsens.

    Headache:

    If EVALON 1MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking EVALON 1MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or becomes severe, then consult and inform your doctor.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy.  Consult your doctor before taking the medicine and inform immediately if pregnancy occurs while in management with the medicine.

    Breastfeeding

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as the medicine may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Driving and Using Machines

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Kidney

    EVALON 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems such as renal dysfunction/insufficiency. Consult your doctor before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET.

    Liver

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with acute/chronic liver disease.  Consult your doctor before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take EVALON 1MG TABLET if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Estriol, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from pulmonary embolism (blood clot in lung artery). It should be used with caution in patients with other lung diseases such as asthma. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Heart Disease

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who had suffered from heart attack.  It should be used with caution in patients with other heart diseases such as cardiac dysfunction.  Consult your doctor before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET.

    Others

    EVALON 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • had/have/suspected of breast cancer
    • have/are suspected of oestrogen dependent malignant tumors such as endometrial cancer
    • suffer from unexplained vaginal bleeding
    • suffer from unmanageed endometrial hyperplasia (thickened endometrium)
    • have/had venous thromboembolism (blood clot in vein) such as deep venous thrombosis (blood clot in legs), pulmonary embolism (clot in artery of lungs)
    • suffer from any blood clotting disorder
    • have/had arterial thromboembolic disease such as angina, myocardial infarction (heart attack)
    • suffer from porphyria (rare genetic blood disorders)
    • suffer from galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose- galactose malabsorption (rare hereditary disorders)

    Before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • suffer from leiomyoma (fibroids)
    • suffer from endometriosis (condition that occurs when lining of uterus grows outside the uterus)  
    • are prone of risk factors of oestrogen dependent tumors such as first-degree heredity of breast cancer
    • have high blood pressure
    • have diabetes mellitus
    • have cholelithiasis (stones in gall bladder)
    • have migraine/severe headache
    • have systemic lupus erythematosus (autoimmune disease)
    • have a history of endometrial hyperplasia (thickened endometrium)
    • have epilepsy
    • suffer from osteosclerosis (disorder marked by abnormal thickening of bone)
    • have decreased glucose tolerance
    • have signs of hypercalcemia (high calcium level in blood) such as stomach upset, nausea, and/or vomiting

    Use in Paediatrics:

    EVALON 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in adolescent girls (aged 10 to 19 years) only if there is a contraception need. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    EVALON 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly women (aged above 50 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking EVALON 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • anticonvulsants (medicines used to manage seizures) such as hydantoins (Ex. phenytoin), barbiturates (Ex. phenobarbital), carbamazepine
    • anti-infectives (used to prevent/manage infections) Ex. rifampicin, rifabutin, griseofulvin
    • antiretroviral agents (used to manage HIV) Ex. nevirapine, efavirenz, ritonavir, nevirapine
    • herbal medicines containing St. John’s wort (used to manage depression)
    • corticosteroids (used to reduce inflammation) Ex. cortisone, hydrocortisone
    • succinylcholine (skeletal muscle relaxant)
    • theophylline (used to manage asthma)
    • troleandomycin (used to manage various bacterial infections)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of EVALON 1MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital to manage overdose symptoms.
