    Introduction About ETOGESIC T TABLET

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is a combination of Etodolac and Tolperisone which belongs to the group of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs and Muscle Relaxants respectively. It is used in adults for the management of acute inflammation conditions associated with muscle spasm characterized by weakness, swelling and muscle pain.

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, pain before or after bypass surgery. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    It should be used with caution in patients having liver, kidney, and other heart disease. It is not recommended during pregnancy and in breast feeding mothers, consult your doctor for advice.

    As the safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients below the age of 18 years have not been established, consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    It should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking ETOGESIC T TABLET are stomach pain, indigestion, heart burn and vomiting. Consult your doctor if the side effects does not improve.

    How ETOGESIC T TABLET Works

    [GBKEYWORD] act as a painkiller and muscle relaxant where Etodolac works by blocking the effects of prostaglandin (substance produced during injury and inflammation causing pain) pain signals between the brain and nerve endings and Tolperisone blocks the effects of acetylcholine (neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction).

    How to use ETOGESIC T TABLET

    Take ETOGESIC T TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of ETOGESIC T TABLET

    Common

    • stomach pain
    • constipation
    • diarrhoea
    • indigestion
    • flatulence
    • gross bleeding/perforation
    • heartburn
    • nausea  
    • stomach ulcers
    • vomiting

    Rare

    Stop taking ETOGESIC T TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • heart problems
    • stroke
    • high blood pressure
    • signs of kidney problems such as loss of appetite, decreased urinary output, fatigue
    • stomach ulcers with bleeding
    • anemia
    • skin allergies
    • stomach pain, yellowing of skin and eyes  
    • asthma attacks (asthmatic patients)
    • shortness of breath
    • slurred speech
    • chest pain
    • swelling of the face or throat
    • weakness in one part or side of your body

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and try to avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Take liquid drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor.

    Diarrhea:

    Drinking lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice helps to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medication on your own without doctor consultation.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Discuss with your doctor if the symptoms is not improving.

    Flatulence:

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve. Contact your doctor for advice.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is not recommended in pregnancy and must not be taken during last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may cause serious harm to the baby. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Breastfeeding

    ETOGESIC T TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor for advice before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ETOGESIC T TABLET because it can aggravate the side effects.

    Kidney

    ETOGESIC T TABLET should be used with caution in patients having kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Liver

    ETOGESIC T TABLET should be used with caution in patients having liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take ETOGESIC T TABLET if you are allergic to Etodolac or Tolperisone or any ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Heart Disease

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having pain before or after bypass surgery. It should be used with caution in patients having congestive heart failure and other heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Others

    ETOGESIC T TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

    • urticaria (red and itchy skin)

    Before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:

    • high blood pressure
    • stomach ulcers with bleeding
    • skin disease like exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN)
    • anaemia

    Use in pediatrics:

    As the Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients below the age of 18 years have not been established, consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Use in geriatrics:

    ETOGESIC T TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients of 65 years and above. Consult your doctor before taking ETOGESIC T TABLET.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking the medicine, tell your doctor if you are taking the following:

    • medicines used to manage high blood pressure (Ex. furosemide, bumetanide)
    • magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide (medicines used to manage heart burn)
    • phenylbutazone, aspirin (medicines used as a pain killer)
    • cyclosporine (medicines used for immunosuppression after organ transplant)
    • medicine used to manage an abnormal heart rhythm (Ex. digoxin)
    • methotrexate (medicine used to manage cancer and auto-immune diseases)
    • lithium (medicine used to manage depression and mania)
    • phenytoin used to manage fits (epilepsy)
    • warfarin (used as a blood thinning agent)
    • glyburide (medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ETOGESIC T TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain (upper abdomen pain), gastrointestinal bleeding.
