Introduction About ETOBANG P TABLET
ETOBANG P TABLET is a combination of Etoricoxib and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and Analgesics respectively. It is used to manage pain and inflammation in conditions like ankylosing spondylitis (inflammation of the spine), osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is defined as a progressive disorder affecting primarily weight-bearing joints, characterized by progressive worsening and loss of cartilage that join bones, pain, motion restriction, deformity and disability. Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-term, progressive inflammatory disorder of unknown cause characterized by involvement of five or more joints and systemic symptoms like tiredness, weakness, fever, loss of appetite and joint pain.
During course of the management your doctor might regularly monitor your liver and kidney function test to avoid any untoward side effects.
Before taking ETOBANG P TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, stomach ulcer or bleeding, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or colitis.
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 16 years) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients.
The most common side effect of taking ETOBANG P TABLET are stomach pain, constipation, flatulence, acid reflux, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, nausea and mouth ulcer. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How ETOBANG P TABLET Works
ETOBANG P TABLET helps to relieve pain and inflammation, where etoricoxib inhibits cyclo-oxygenase enzyme (COX-2) and reduces prostaglandins (PGs) generation from arachidonic acid and paracetamol appears to relieve pain by elevation of the pain threshold.
How to use ETOBANG P TABLET
Take ETOBANG P TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ETOBANG P TABLET
Common
- stomach pain, constipation, gas
- gastritis, acid reflux
- diarrhea, stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting
- inflammation of food pipe
- mouth ulcer
- swelling of the legs and/or feet due to fluid retention
- dizziness, headache
- irregular heart rhythm
- wheezing or shortness of breath
- weakness and fatigue, flu-like illness
Uncommon
- gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and small intestine)
- urinary tract infection
- appetite increases or decreases, weight gain
- taste alteration, inability to sleep, numbness or tingling, sleepiness
- blurred vision, eye irritation and redness
- ringing in the ears, vertigo (spinning sensation of head)
- feeling of tightness, pressure or heaviness in the chest, heart attack
- flushing, stroke, mini-stroke
- severe increase in blood pressure
- cough, breathlessness, nosebleed
- dry mouth
- swelling of the face, skin rash or itchy skin, redness of the skin
- muscle cramp/spasm, muscle pain/stiffness
Rare
- confusion, restlessness
- severe skin reactions (these reactions can involve ulcers of the mouth, throat, nose and genitals)
Stop taking ETOBANG P TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- shortness of breath, chest pain, or ankle swelling appear or if they get worse
- signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
- severe or continual stomach pain or your stools become black
- allergic reaction (signs include skin problems such as ulcers or blistering or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing)
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea:
Try to take ETOBANG P TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If constipation does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If diarrhea does not improve, contact your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the stomach pain does not improve, contact your doctor.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If flatulence does not improve, contact your doctor.

Pregnancy
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.

Breastfeeding
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines while taking ETOBANG P TABLET since it may cause dizziness or sleepiness.

Kidney
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with serious kidney disease. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.

Liver
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with serious liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.

Allergy
Do not take ETOBANG P TABLET if you are allergic to Etoricoxib, Paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Heart Disease
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart problems including heart failure (moderate or severe types), chest pain, heart attack or bypass surgery. It should be used with caution in patients with any other heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.
Others
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have active stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
- have inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, or colitis
- have high blood pressure that has not been controlled by management
- peripheral arterial disease (poor circulation in legs or feet due to narrow or blocked arteries)
- have had any kind of stroke (including mini-stroke, transient ischaemic attack or TIA)
Before taking ETOBANG P TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have a history of gastrointestinal disease like ulceration and bleeding
- are dehydrated (prolonged bout of vomiting or diarrhoea)
- have swelling due to fluid retention
- have a history of high blood pressure
- are being managed for an infection
- have diabetes, high cholesterol or a smoker
Use in pediatrics:
ETOBANG P TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 16 years of age). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
ETOBANG P TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before taking ETOBANG P TABLET.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking ETOBANG P TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- other medicines used to manage pain and inflammation (Ex. celecoxib, acetylsalicylic acid)
- warfarin (used for blood thinning)
- methotrexate (used to suppress immune system)
- ciclosporin or tacrolimus (used to manage organ rejection after transplant)
- lithium (used to manage depression)
- medicines used to help control high blood pressure and heart failure (enalapril, ramipril, minoxidil, losartan and valsartan)
- diuretics such as furosemide, chlorthalidone (used to manage fluid retention)
- digoxin (a medicine for heart failure and irregular heart rhythm)
- salbutamol (used to manage asthma)
- hormonal replacement therapy (such as estrogen) (used to manage symptoms of menopause)
- birth control pills (such as mifepristone) (used to manage pregnancy)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of ETOBANG P TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
