    Introduction About ESTINA EYE DROPS

    ESTINA EYE DROPS contains Epinastine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiallergics. It is used to manage the symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (an allergic disease affecting the eye) such as watery eyes and itchy, red or swollen eyes or eyelids. ESTINA EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with dry eyes or disorders of the cornea. Consult your doctor before using it.

    ESTINA EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. ESTINA EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before using it.

    The most common side effects of using ESTINA EYE DROPS are burning sensation of the eye or irritation of the eye. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How ESTINA EYE DROPS Works

    ESTINA EYE DROPS works by blocking certain chemicals called histamine which are responsible for the allergic reaction. Thus, helps to manage conjunctivitis effectively.

    How to use ESTINA EYE DROPS

    Use ESTINA EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Tilt your head backward, pull the lower eyelid gently downwards and hold the bottle upside down above the eye and dispense drops with gentle pressure. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or other surface. Do not stop using ESTINA EYE DROPS without telling your doctor.

    Side Effects Of ESTINA EYE DROPS

    Common

    • burning sensation of the eye or irritation of the eye

    Uncommon

    • headache
    • swelling and irritation in the nose causing runny or blocked nose and sneezing
    • unusual taste in the mouth
    • red, dry, itchy eyes
    • difficulty in seeing clearly
    • discharge from the eyes

    Rare

    Stop using ESTINA EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • asthma (an allergic disease affecting the lungs that causes breathing difficulties)
    • symptoms of angioedema (swelling of face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives and breathing difficulties)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    ESTINA EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Breastfeeding

    ESTINA EYE DROPS should be used with caution in breast feeding women as it is not known whether it passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines after using ESTINA EYE DROPS as it causes blurred vision.

    Allergy

    Do not use ESTINA EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Epinastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Before using ESTINA EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you:

    • have dry eyes or disorders of the cornea (the clear layer at the front of the eye)

    Use in pediatrics:

    ESTINA EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents aged 12 years and older. Consult your doctor before using it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before using ESTINA EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are using, have taken or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicine.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of ESTINA EYE DROPS, it is unlikely to cause you any harm. Put your next drops in at the usual time. If you are worried, contact your doctor or visit the nearby hospital.

    Q: How often can I use ESTINA EYE DROPS?

    A: Use ESTINA EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. Instill one drop into each affected eye(s) twice daily (for example in the morning and in the evening). If you are using in combination with another eye drop medicine, wait 10-15 minutes before applying the second eye drop.

    Q: Can I wear contact lens while using ESTINA EYE DROPS?

    A: ESTINA EYE DROPS contains a preservative, called benzalkonium chloride, that may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and may change the colour of the contact lenses. If you wear soft contact lenses you must remove them before using ESTINA EYE DROPS. After using this medicine, you have to wait at least 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in.

    Q: What if I miss a dose of ESTINA EYE DROPS?

    A: Put the drops as soon as you remember. But if it is the time for the next dose then you can skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule. Need not take a double dose. If the drop misses your eye, then try again. Talk to your doctor.

    Q: How long can I use ESTINA EYE DROPS?

    A: Use ESTINA EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. You should use ESTINA EYE DROPS every day that you experience eye symptoms during the allergy season but for no longer than 8 weeks. Your physician will fix the correct dose and frequency for you based upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Q: Can ESTINA EYE DROPS cause blurred vision?

    A: Yes. ESTINA EYE DROPS can cause blurred vision. Therefore, it is advised not to drive or use any machinery after using ESTINA EYE DROPS if you feel visual disturbances. Talk to your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    A: ESTINA EYE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age and it should be used with caution in children and adolescents aged 12 years and older. Consult your doctor before using it.
