    Introduction About ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET is a combination of Furazolidone and Metronidazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antimicrobial agents. It is used to manage diarrhea and dysentery caused due to various bacterial and protozoal infections affecting the gut such as amoebiasis, colitis, cholera, bacteremic salmonellosis or giardiasis (beaver fever causing stomach cramps, bloating and watery diarrhea).

    It can also be used to manage infections of the blood, brain, bones, teeth and genital areas. It also helps in managing gum inflammation, leg ulcers and pressure sores and manages post-surgical infections.

    Take ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET for the stipulated duration as instructed by the doctor to achieve better results. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    Before taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET as a precaution.

    Uses Of ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET

    It is used to manage:

    • diarrhea and dysentery caused due to various bacterial and parasitic infections
    • food poisoning
    • stomach infections (such as amoebiasis, giardiasis, bacterial enteritis)
    • dental infections (gingivitis)
    • post-operative wound infections
    • genital tract infections (such as bacterial vaginosis)
    • blood infections
    • brain abscess
    • anaerobic infections (such as necrotizing pneumonia, osteomyelitis)
    • leg ulcers and pressure sores

    How ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET Works

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET is an antimicrobial medication. It kills the susceptible microorganism by breaking down their genetic material (DNA). As a result, it reduces the severity of the infection and manages them from spreading further.

    How to use ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET

    Take ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It is preferably taken with or just after meals.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Do not skip doses or stop taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET without consulting your doctor as it may not completely manage the infection.

    Side Effects Of ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET

    Common

    • Stomach pain

    Rare

    Stop taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • severe skin reactions (such as widespread skin rash, blistering, peeling or bleeding on any part of the skin with fever, chills, enlarged lymph nodes and malaise or pink or reddish skin lesions on palms or soles)
    • stomach pain, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fever, tiredness, weakness, yellowing of skin and eyes, dark urine, pale stools, skin itchiness
    • signs of brain disease (such as fever, neck stiffness, headache, hallucinations, muscle stiffness, problems in speech, confusion)
    • signs of low blood count (such as unexpected infections, mouth ulcers, bruising, bleeding gums, or severe tiredness)
    • severe stomach pain which may reach radiate to your back (pancreatitis)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Take ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience severe nausea and vomiting.

    Headache:  

    Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

    Pregnancy

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if your ability is affected by ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET as it may cause unpleasant side effects.

    Kidney

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET if you are allergic to Furazolidone or Metronidazole.

    • have a disease of nervous system

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • medicines used for blood thinning (such as warfarin)
    • lithium (a medicine used to manage mental illnesses)
    • medicines used to manage epilepsy (such as phenytoin, primidone, phenobarbital)
    • busulfan, 5-fluorouracil (medicines used to manage cancer)
    • ciclosporin (a medicine used to manage graft rejection)
    • disulfiram (a medicine used to quit alcoholism)
    • medicines used to manage depression (such as moclobemide, phenelzine, isocarboxazid, amitriptyline, imipramine, fluoxetine, sertraline)
    • amphetamines (medicines that can stimulate the brain) Ex. methamphetamine
    • ephedrine or phenylephrine (medicine used for cough)

    B. Drug - Food interaction:

    Avoid taking food rich in tyramine (such as aged cheese, beer, alcohol-free beer and wine, red and white wine, yeast or protein extracts, fava or broad bean pods, smoked or pickled meat, poultry, fish, fermented sausage or other fermented meat and any overripe fruit) for at least 2 weeks while undergoing therapy with this medicine.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more ENTROMAX 200/100MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
