Introduction About ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION
ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION contains Cefuroxime which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used as a management management during eye surgery for cataracts (cloudy eyes) from bacterial infections.
ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with a high risk of getting an infection or in patient having a complicated cataract or even a combined eye surgery is planned.
Tell your doctor if you are suffering from severe thyroid disease or a bacterial infection called MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before receiving ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION.
This medicine may cause rare side effects such as allergic reactions which causes difficulty in breathing, dizziness and macular oedema (blurry or wavy vision near or in the center of your field of vision). Consult your doctor immediately if any of the above symptoms worsen.

How ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION Works
ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION is a second-generation cephalosporin that interferes with the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall by binding to the specific binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell wall. This leads to the breaking down of the cell wall inside the bacteria and reducing its stability, thus causing cell damage, and eventually causing bacterial elimination.
How to use ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION
ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION will be administered by your doctor or nurse at the end of the cataract surgery. Your doctor will administer the correct dose for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION
Rare
Stop receiving ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- serious allergic reaction which causes difficulty in breathing or dizziness
- macular oedema (blurry or wavy vision near or in the centre of your field of vision)

ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Breastfeeding

Allergy
Do not receive ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Cefuroxime, cephalosporin, penicillin, monobactams, carbapenems or to any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
Before receiving ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:
- are at risk of infection due to bacteria called MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
- have any other infections
- have been told you have a complicated cataract
- are planned for combined eye surgery
- have severe thyroid disorder

Before receiving ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are receiving any other medicines, including herbal and ayurvedic medicines.
Overdosage:
ENTOCEF 50MG INJECTION will be administered to you by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
