ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET is a combination of Metformin and Rosiglitazone, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to manage glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are already managed with a combination rosiglitazone and metformin or who are not adequately controlled on metformin alone.
Before and during therapy with ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET, your doctor may conduct a blood test to determine liver and kidney function.
ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET should not be used during pregnancy unless it is considered necessary by the doctor. ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET are diarrhea, nausea, an upset stomach, cold-like symptoms, headache, and weight gain. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET Works
ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET effectively controls blood glucose levels, where metformin works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, decreasing the intestinal absorption of glucose, increasing insulin sensitivity, and allowing better glucose uptake and utilization by the body. Rosiglitazone helps improve glycemic control by increasing insulin sensitivity and reducing circulating insulin levels.
How to use ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET
Take ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET, preferably with meals, or as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET
Common
- diarrhea, nausea, and an upset stomach
- cold-like symptoms
- headache
- weight gain
Rare
Stop taking ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- Signs of lactic acidosis are feeling very weak, tired, or uncomfortable (malaise), unusual muscle pain, unusual sleepiness, rapid breathing, unusual stomach problems (such as nausea or vomiting), low body temperature, feeling dizzy or light-headed, and suddenly having a slow or uneven heartbeat
- Signs and symptoms of liver dysfunction include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, dark urine, and yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes
- Symptoms of heart failure, such as an unusually rapid increase in weight, swelling of the ankles or legs, shortness of breath, and unusual tiredness
How To Manage Side Effects
Diarrhea
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhea does not improve.
Headache
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution), and apply a pain-relieving balm to the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache does not improve.
Nausea And Vomiting
Take ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET with a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea does not improve.
Stomach Pain
Rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Do not self-manage on your own, consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve on its own.

Driving and Using Machines

ContraindicatedENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use In Geriatrics
Use with CautionENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET should be used with caution only in elderly patients aged 65 years and older with normal kidney function. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma
- have type 1 diabetes mellitus
- have stroke
- are planned for x-rays
- are scheduled for surgery
- are seriously dehydrated due to vomiting and diarrhea
Before taking ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- are debilitated or malnourished
- have adrenal or pituitary insufficiency
- have fever, trauma, or infection
- have edema

Before taking ENSELIN MFT 4/500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:
- insulin, thiazolidinediones, and sulfonylureas (medicines used to manage diabetes mellitus)
- furosemide, chlorothiazide (medicine used to manage high blood pressure)
- nifedipine (a medicine used to manage high blood pressure and angina)
- cimetidine (a medicine used to manage stomach problems)
- corticosteroids (medicines used to manage pain and inflammation) Ex. dexamethasone
- phenothiazines (medicines used to manage psychotic disorders) Ex. chlorpromazine
- thyroid products Ex. levothyroxine (medicine used to manage hypothyroidism)
