Introduction About ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION

ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION is used to offer protection against hepatitis B infection. It contains Hepatitis B Antigen which belongs to the group of medicines called Vaccines.

Upon vaccination, ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION releases a harmless version of hepatitis B virus to which our body produces antibodies. As these hepatitis B viruses are in harmless form, our body easily destroys them and stores it as memory. Upon future exposure to active hepatitis B infection, our body releases antibodies and kills the active virus.

ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION should be administered only in the muscles or beneath the skin by a trained health care professional. Do not receive ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION if you are allergic to hepatitis B antigen or have major illness with high fever. Before receiving ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as a precaution.

ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION is generally well-tolerated. However, it may cause pain at injection site, tiredness and fatigue in some individuals which usually resolves on its own in 1-2 days. Consult your doctor if they trouble you.

Uses Of ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION

    • Immunization against Hepatitis B Infection

How ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION Works

The hepatitis B vaccine works by introducing a small, harmless piece of the hepatitis B virus, usually a surface protein, into the body. This protein doesn’t cause the disease, but it triggers the immune system to recognize it as a threat. The immune system then creates antibodies against the protein. If you are later exposed to the actual hepatitis B virus, your immune system recognizes it quickly and fights it off, preventing the infection from taking hold.

How to use ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION

ENGERIX B ADULT 20MCG INJECTION should be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscles as intramuscular injection or beneath the skin as subcutaneous injection.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and how many booster doses you have to receive based on your age, body weight and health condition. Do not skip booster doses to ensure maximum protection against hepatitis B infection.
