    Introduction About ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS

    ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS contains Gatifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial conjunctivitis caused by strains of aerobic gram-positive bacteria (Ex. Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mitis group, Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus pneumoniae) and aerobic gram-negative bacteria (Ex. Haemophilus influenzae).

    ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women as insufficient data is available on this.

    ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS is not recommended for children below 1 year of age. Therefore, contact your doctor before using.

    The most common side effects of using ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS include worsening of conjunctivitis, eye irritation, dysgeusia and eye pain. Contact your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    How ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS Works

    ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (an enzyme that helps in replication, transcription and repair of bacterial DNA) and topoisomerase IV (an enzyme that helps in portioning of chromosomal DNA during bacterial cell division).

    How to use ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS

    Always use ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Check the label for directions for use. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS

    Common

    • eye irritation or pain
    • dysgeusia (taste disorder)

    Uncommon

    • conjunctival haemorrhage (tiny blood vessel breaks just underneath the clear surface of your eye)
    • dry eye
    • eye discharge
    • eyelid oedema
    • headache
    • increased lacrimation
    • keratitis (inflammation of the cornea)
    • red eye
    • papillary conjunctivitis (eyelid gets red, swollen and irritated)
    • reduced visual acuity

    Rare

    • steven-johnson syndrome

    Stop using ENGATT 0.3% EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • anaphylactic reactions (symptoms include eye allergy and allergic dermatitis, nausea, pruritis and blurred vision)
    • angioedema
    • blepharitis
    • dyspnoea
