    Introduction About EMANZEN D TABLET

    EMANZEN D TABLET is a combination of Diclofenac and Serratiopeptidase which belongs to a group of medicines called Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and Proteolytic enzymes.  EMANZEN D TABLET is used in the management of pain and inflammatory conditions in adult patients. EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, other NSAIDs, and/or serratiopeptidase. EMANZEN D TABLET is also not recommended for use in patients with active gastric or intestinal ulcer/bleeding/perforation, active/previous history of recurrent peptic ulcer/hemorrhage, peripheral arterial disease (blood circulation disorder), severe liver/kidney impairment, and/or heart diseases (such as congestive heart failure, severe heart failure, ischemic heart disease). EMANZEN D TABLET is also not indicated for use to manage pain in patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

    Before taking EMANZEN D TABLET inform your doctor if you had previously suffered from gastrointestinal ulceration, and/or have ulcerative colitis (inflammation of colon), mixed connective tissue disorders (such as systemic lupus erythematosus), diabetes, high blood pressure, lung problems (such as bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases), kidney problems (such as mild to moderate renal impairment), and/or liver problems (such as mild to moderate liver impairment).

    EMANZEN D TABLET is generally not recommended for use during third trimester of pregnancy which is also not recommended for use in women planning for pregnancy. EMANZEN D TABLET should be used with caution during first and second trimester of pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. EMANZEN D TABLET is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women since it may pass through breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) at higher doses which should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged above 14 years) at lower doses after consulting the doctor. EMANZEN D TABLET should also be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor. The most common side effects of taking EMANZEN D TABLET are headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.  Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    How EMANZEN D TABLET Works

    EMANZEN D TABLET provides relief from pain and inflammation in affected individuals where diclofenac works by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers (responsible for pain and inflammation) in the brain and serratiopeptidase reduces inflammatory reaction by breaking down abnormal proteins at the site of inflammation thus providing relief from inflammation and pain in affected individuals.

    How to use EMANZEN D TABLET

    Take EMANZEN D TABLET as advised by your physician. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration and frequency for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of EMANZEN D TABLET

    Common

    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Indigestion
    • abdominal pain
    • flatulence
    • anorexia (eating disorder)
    • loss of appetite
    • rash
    • red itchy welts

    Uncommon

    • racing heartbeat
    • chest pain

    Rare

    • Signs of hypersensitivity and anaphylactic reactions (life threatening allergic reactions) such as low blood pressure, red itchy welts, flushed/pale skin, shortness of breath, and/or wheezing
    • Excess sleepiness, tiredness
    • Asthma, difficulty in breathing
    • Stomach inflammation, gastrointestinal bleeding, dark stools, bloody diarrhea, stomach ulcer with/without bleeding/perforation
    • Inflammation of liver, jaundice, liver disorders
    • Bullous eruptions, skin inflammation, skin redness, erythema multiforme (type of allergic skin reaction)
    • Swelling in arms and legs

    Stop taking EMANZEN D TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • Skin rash, mucosal lesions, hypersensitivity reaction (associated with signs such as red itchy welts, skin rash, shortness of breath, wheezing, and/or fever)
    • Stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn, wind, nausea, vomiting
    • Signs of bleeding in the stomach/intestine such as abdominal cramps, black/tarry stool, bright red blood in vomit, and/or dizziness/faintness
    • Signs of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, bruising, painful red areas, peeling/blistering
    • Wheezing/shortness of breath
    • Swollen face, lips, hands or fingers
    • Signs of jaundice such as yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes
    • Persistent sore throat/high temperature
    • Change in quantity of urine and its appearance
    • Mild cramping and tenderness of abdomen followed by rectal bleeding/bloody diarrhea usually within 24 hours of the onset of abdominal pain
    • Signs of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (serious skin disorder) such as blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals
    • Chest pain due to Kounis syndrome (serious allergic reaction)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    If EMANZEN D TABLET causes diarrhea, then drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    If EMANZEN D TABLET causes dizziness, then try to take rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Headache

    If EMANZEN D TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking EMANZEN D TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.

    Indigestion

    If EMANZEN D TABLET causes indigestion, then try to have smaller and more frequent meals and drink slowly. Reduce consumption of coffee, cola, tea, or alcohol and lose weight if you are obese.  Try to avoid smoking and don’t have rich, fatty or spicy foods. Consult your doctor and inform if the symptom does not improve.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    If EMANZEN D TABLET causes nausea and vomiting, then try to take EMANZEN D TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if symptom gets worse.

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking EMANZEN D TABLET as it increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Kidney

    Consult your doctor

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Consult your doctor before taking EMANZEN D TABLET.

    Liver

    Consult your doctor

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe hepatic impairment and liver failure. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment and hepatic porphyria. Consult your doctor before taking EMANZEN D TABLET.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take EMANZEN D TABLET if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, other NSAIDs, serratiopeptidase, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    Use with Caution

    EMANZEN D TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung problems such as bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, and/or chronic infections of the respiratory tract. Consult your doctor before taking EMANZEN D TABLET.

    Heart Disease

    Contraindicated

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with established congestive heart failure, severe heart failure, and/or ischemic heart disease, It is also not recommended for use in patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Consult your doctor before taking EMANZEN D TABLET.

    Use In Pediatrics

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years) at higher doses. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged above 14 years) at lower doses.  Consult your doctor before taking the medicine who shall decide the correct dose, duration and frequency depending on the child’s age, body weight and disease condition.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    EMANZEN D TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Others

    EMANZEN D TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • Have active gastric or intestinal ulcer/bleeding/perforation
    • Previously suffered from gastrointestinal bleeding/perforation (due to NSADIS therapy)
    • Have active/previous history of recurrent peptic ulcer/hemorrhage (with two or more bleeding episodes)
    • Previously suffered from angio-oedema, red itchy welts, acute rhinitis gastrointestinal (due to NSAIDS therapy)
    • Previously had stomach/bowel problems (after taking other NSAIDs)
    • Have/had peripheral arterial disease (blood circulation disorder).
    • Other cerebrovascular diseases (such as stroke, ministroke).
    • Have rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, severe lactase deficiency/glucose-galactose malabsorption.

    Before taking EMANZEN D TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • Have previously suffered from gastrointestinal ulceration
    • Have ulcerative colitis (inflammation of colon) or crohn’s disease (inflammatory bowel disease)
    • Suffer from mixed connective tissue disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (type of autoimmune disease)
    • Have diabetes, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol level in blood)
    • Are a smoker
    • Suffer from defective hemostasis (process to prevent/stop bleeding), bleeding diathesis/ hematological abnormalities (increased susceptibility to bleed)

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking EMANZEN D TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • Lithium (used for depression)
    • Digoxin, quinidine (medicines used to manage heart disease)
    • Medicines used for hypertension such as diuretics (Ex. chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone), beta blockers (Ex. acebutolol, atenolol), angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (Ex. benazepril, captopril) 
    • Potassium-sparing diuretic (used to manage hypertension, cirrhosis, congestive heart failure) Ex. amiloride, eplerenone
    • Ciclosporin (used to manage transplant organ rejection)
    • Tacrolimus (used to manage moderate to severe atopic dermatitis)
    • Trimethoprim (used to manage urinary tract infections)
    • Anticoagulants (medicines used to manage blood clot) Ex. aspirin, warfarin
    • Other NSAIDS (medicines used to reduce pain and inflammation) such as cox 2 selective inhibitors (Ex. celecoxib, valdecoxib), corticosteroids (Ex. cortisone, hydrocortisone)
    • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (medicines used to manage depression) Ex. citalopram, dapoxetine 
    • Antidiabetics (medicines used to manage diabetes) Ex. metformin, glipizide, glyburide
    • Methotrexate (used to manage inflammatory conditions)
    • Quinolone (used to manage bacterial infections)
    • Phenytoin (used to manage seizures)
    • Colestipol, Cholestyramine (medicines used to lower high cholesterol in blood)
    • Cardiac glycosides (medicines used to manage heart failure and certain irregular heartbeats) Ex. acetyldigitoxin, deslanoside
    • Mifepristone (used to end early pregnancy)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of EMANZEN D TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are headache, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, GI hemorrhage, diarrhea, dizziness, disorientation, excitation, coma, drowsiness, tinnitus, fainting, and/or convulsions.
