Introduction About ELECTROKIND SACHET
Electrokind Sachet belongs to oral rehydration salts (ORS) which is used to manage electrolyte imbalance and fluid loss due to diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating or other causes. It contains electrolytes like sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium citrate and dextrose which are important to maintain normal fluid balance in the body.
It hydrates the body and restores the lost electrolytes during conditions which involves too much fluid loss like loose motions or vomiting. ORS helps to manage dehydration and lowers the need for hospitalization.
Dextrose or glucose is the main ingredient of ORS that eases the absorption of sodium and water in the small intestine. Sodium and potassium are required as substitution of these essential ions during diarrhoea and vomiting. Citrate rectifies the excess acid levels that occurs because of diarrhoea.
Dissolve entire content of Electrokind Sachet in 1 litre of boiled and then cooled drinking water. Stir properly and then consume it. Consume only the recommended dilutions and do not add extra water, as it may interfere with the dilutions. Do not consume the solution if any of it is left after 24 hours of reconstitution.
Electrokind Sachet can be combined with other parenteral fluids if you experience prolonged diarrhoea or other forms of severe fluid loss. It should be used with caution in patients having impaired kidney function or bowel obstruction.

Q: Can Electrokind Sachet be given to infants?
A: Yes, but your doctor will decide how much will be appropriate for your child. Generally, 50-100 mL (1/4 glass) is advised for children (below 2 years of age).
Q: How should I give Electrokind Sachet to my child?
A: A family member should be taught to prepare and give Electrokind Sachet. It should be given to infants and young children using a clean spoon or cup. Feeding bottles should not be used. For babies, a dropper or syringe (without the needle) can be used to administer small amounts of solution into the mouth. Children under 2 years of age should be offered a teaspoonful every 1-2 minutes; older children may take frequent sips directly from the cup or bottle.
Q: Can Electrokind Sachet be used in pregnancy?
A: Yes, Electrokind Sachet can be used by pregnant women. However, consult your doctor for more information.
Q: What if vomiting occurs just after taking Electrokind Sachet?
A: Vomiting often occurs during the first hour or two of management, especially when you drink the solution too quickly. However, this rarely manages successful oral rehydration since most of the fluid is absorbed. After this time vomiting usually stops. If you vomit, wait 5-10 minutes and then start taking Electrokind Sachet again, but more slowly.
Q: Can Electrokind Sachet be taken every day?
A: Take Electrokind Sachet as advised by your physician. Consult your doctor before taking it every day because prolonged use may cause untoward side effects. It should be usually continued till diarrhea stops or dehydration is corrected.
