Introduction About EFFICORT / CREAM

EFFICORT / CREAM contains Hydrocortisone acetate which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. EFFICORT / CREAM is used to manage all types of eczema (type of skin inflammation) and dermatitis (itching) in adults and children (aged above 3 months).

EFFICORT / CREAM is also used to manage photodermatitis (itching caused by exposure to light) and dermatitis that occurs due to skin irritants and allergies. It is also indicated for use to manage psoriasis (itchy skin) on small areas of the scalp, hand, and/or feet in affected individuals.

EFFICORT / CREAM is not recommended for use in patients allergic to hydrocortisone butyrate. It is also not recommended for use in patients with unmanageed skin disorders (caused by bacteria/viral/fungal/parasitic infection), skin problems (associated with syphilis/tuberculosis), perioral dermatitis (inflammation of the skin around the mouth), pimples/acne, and/or reddened facial skin.

Before applying EFFICORT / CREAM, inform your doctor if you are a smoker and/or had a previous skin infection/sensitive skin (to corticosteroids), and suffer from liver disease.

EFFICORT / CREAM is generally not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless it is clearly necessary.

EFFICORT / CREAM is indicated for use in children and adolescents (aged above 3 months).  The medicine is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.

The most common side effects of applying EFFICORT / CREAM are atrophy (thinning of muscle tissue), stretch marks, rosacea (red pus-filled bumps on face), perioral dermatitis (inflammation of skin around mouth), acne, and/or purpura (purple coloured rash). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

How to use EFFICORT / CREAM

Always apply EFFICORT / CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply a thin layer of this medicine on the affected area. Avoid applying this medicine around your eyes, including your eyelids. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

Do not apply EFFICORT / CREAM if you are allergic to hydrocortisone butyrate, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Overdose:
