    Introduction About DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET contains Piroxicam, which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. It is used to relieve the symptoms caused by osteoarthritis (a joint disease that occurs when the protective tissues at the end of the bones wear out and is characterised by joint pain in the hands, neck, and hip), rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune disease-causing painful swelling of joints and stiffness), and ankylosing spondylitis (rheumatism of the spine resulting in a hunched forward posture).

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver, kidney, or heart problems, and it should be used with caution in patients with asthma. DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women, especially during the last three months of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use by children under 15 years of age. It should be used with caution with elderly patients. The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea (feeling sick), vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, skin rash, headache, and dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Uses Of DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET

    • Relieves the symptoms caused by osteoarthritis (joint disease), rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis (rheumatism of the spine) such as swelling, stiffness and joint pain

    How DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET Works

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET exerts its anti-inflammatory actions by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase-1, thereby blocking the release of prostaglandins (a substance produced during injury and inflammation that causes pain and swelling) and other chemical mediators that cause pain and swelling.

    How to use DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET

    Take DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET as advised by your physician. Dissolve the tablet in a glass of water, and then drink all of it immediately. The correct dose and duration will be decided by your doctor depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET

    Common

    • anorexia (loss of appetite)
    • epigastric heaviness (pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen)
    • nausea (feeling sick), vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea
    • ulcers, perforations (sharp pain in stomach), occult or non-occult digestive hemorrhages (bleeding in the digestive tract)

    Rare

    • sensitivity to light
    • signs of bullous skin reactions like (erythema multiforme, erosive pluriorificialis or epidermal necrolysis and Stevens-Johnson, Lyell syndrome) large fluid fill blisters

    Stop taking DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • severe stomach pain or tenderness
    • eye problems such as blurred vision, red eyes, itching
    • irregular or fast heartbeat
    • difficulty in hearing, deafness
    • unusual bruising or bleeding, reddish or purple spots under the skin
    • signs of frequent infections such as fever, chills, mouth ulcers, sore throat
    • signs of anaemia such as tiredness, paleness of skin, shortness of breath
    • color change in urine, blood in the urine, burning feeling while urinating
    • yellowing of the eyes or the skin (jaundice)
    • unusual weight gain, swelling of the ankles or legs

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhoea:

    To avoid dehydration in your body, drink plenty of fluids such as water, fruit juices, or electrolytes. If the condition worsens, consult your physician immediately.

    Dizziness:

    Lie or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episodes of spinning (vertigo), lie in a dark and quiet place with your eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. Discuss it with your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Take this medicine with meals or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if there is no improvement in your symptoms.

    Headache:

    Apply a hot or cold water bag to your head. Try to take a rest in a quiet, dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage the scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Skin rash:

    Try to avoid hot showers because they may cause skin irritation. Avoid frequent contact with and rubbing over the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. If this symptom does not get better, speak to a doctor.

    Pregnancy

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women, especially at the start of the sixth month. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Breastfeeding

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breastmilk to the babe. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET as it may make you feel dizzy and sleepy. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET as it may increase the risk of side effects.

    Kidney

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Liver

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Allergy

    Do not take DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET if you are allergic to Piroxicam.

    Lungs

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with asthma. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Heart Disease

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with uncontrolled heart failure or bypass surgery. It should be taken with caution in patients with high blood pressure and other heart problems Consult your doctor for advice.

    Others

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have a history of serious allergic drug reactions, especially skin reactions such as polymorphic erythema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome)
    • have a history of stomach ulcer, bleeding, or perforation, gastrointestinal disorders that predispose to bleeding disorders such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, gastrointestinal cancers or diverticulitis

    Before taking DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have swelling of the feet or ankles (oedema)
    • have bleeding problems
    • have any infection

    Use in pediatrics:

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 15 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Use in geriatrics:

    DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be taken with caution in patient elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    • aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pain relief
    • anticoagulants such as warfarin, heparin, apixaban, dabigatran, and rivaroxaban (a medicine used to manage blood clots)
    • corticosteroids like prednisolone (medicines used to manage a variety of conditions such as allergies and hormone imbalance)
    • mifamurtide (a medicine used in the management of bone cancer)
    • diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide, potassium-sparing agents like amiodarone, and spironolactone (medicines used to manage high blood pressure or kidney problems)
    • methotrexate, pemetrexed, cobimetinib (a medicine used in the management of cancer)
    • ciclosporin or tacrolimus, which is given to help manage rejection of transplanted organs
    • nicorandil (a medicine used to manage angina or chest pain)
    • angiotensin II receptor antagonists like losartan, and valsartan (a medicine used to manage high blood pressure)
    • tenofovir disoproxil (a medicine used in the management of HIV)
    • beta-blockers like propofol, and atenolol (medicines used to manage high blood pressure and heart problem)
    • deferasirox (a medicine used to manage iron deficiency)
    • lithium or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (medicines for depression)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of DOLOXICAM DT DISPERSIBLE TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
