Introduction About DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET contains Ketorolac tromethamine, which belongs to the group of medicines called Painkillers. It is indicated for the short-term management of sudden moderately severe pain that occurs usually after any surgical procedure and musculoskeletal pain. Short term pain is referred as the duration of five days or less which is characterised by sudden and sharp in nature.
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients taking other NSAIDs (Ex. aspirin) or those having advanced kidney, heart, cerebrovascular or gastrointestinal diseases or a tendency to bleed easily. Before taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET, inform your doctor if you have liver, lung or heart diseases, high blood pressure or inflammatory bowel diseases.
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy (especially during the last 3 months) and in breastfeeding mothers. DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in children (below 17 years of age). DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age.
Avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol with DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET. The most common side effects of taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET include nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dizziness or drowsiness, headache or swelling. Consult your doctor immediately if the symptoms worsen or persist.

DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is used for:
- short-term management of sudden moderate to severe pain that occurs usually after any surgical procedure

How DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET Works
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET works by blocking the effects of a substance produced during injury which causes inflammation and pain (prostaglandin) and it also inhibits the pain signals between the brain and nerve endings.
How to use DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET
Take DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.
Side Effects Of DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET
Common
- nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation
- dizziness, drowsiness, headache
- swelling
- sleepiness or lack of sleep
- nervousness
- fever
Uncommon
- abnormal dreams, anxiety, dry mouth, hyperactivity, tingling and prickling sensation, increased sweating, euphoria, hallucinations
- loss of appetite, gas, vomiting, inflamed and sore mouth, gastritis, sore throat
- lack of energy, pain, back pain
- vasodilatation, throbbing sensation, high blood pressure
- migraine
- muscle or joint pain
- rash, hives
- discomfort, pain or burning while peeing
Rare
- generalised swelling, hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis, anaphylactoid reaction, laryngeal or tongue swelling
- heart problems (irregular heartbeats, slow heart rate, chest pain, flushing, low blood pressure, heart attack, inflammation of blood vessels)
- skin disorders like exfoliative dermatitis, Lyell’s syndrome, bullous reactions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme and toxic epidermal necrolysis
- inflammation of pancreas, liver failure
- worsening of inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, ulcerative stomatitis
- blood disorders like agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, lymphadenopathy, pancytopenia (due to changes in the number of blood cells)
- postoperative bleeding
- increased blood sugar levels
- high potassium levels (shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, vomiting)
- low sodium levels (whole body dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, weakness, thirst)
- aseptic meningitis (brain and spinal cord membrane inflammation), psychosis, fits
- bronchospasm (tightness of chest), pneumonia, respiratory depression
- conjunctivitis (eye inflammation)
- flank pain with or without haematuria, haemolytic uraemic syndrome (damage or inflammation of small blood vessels in kidneys)
Stop taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- shortness of breath
- swelling, rapid weight gain
- skin rash
- bleeding in stomach (bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that may look like coffee grounds)
- liver problems (nausea, stomach pain, itchiness, tiredness, flu-like symptoms, clay-coloured stools, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, loss of appetite)
- anaemia (paleness of skin, light-headedness, fast heart rate, difficulty in concentrating, shortness of breath)
- kidney problems (little or no urine production, difficulty or pain while urinating, swelling of legs, tiredness, shortness of breath)
- heart attack or stroke (chest pain spreading to jaw or shoulder, slurred speech, sudden numbness or weakness on one side of the body, feeling short of breath)
- allergic reaction (hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of face or throat)
- severe skin reaction (fever, burning eyes, sore throat, skin pain, purple or red skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling)
How To Manage Side Effects
Vomiting:
Drink ice cold drinks. Try to avoid sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Nausea:
Take DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice for hydration. Do not consume any medicine on your own without asking your doctor. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Dizziness:
When you feel dizzy, lie or sit down immediately. Lie-down in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Vehicle driving should be avoided if you experience frequent dizziness without warning. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Dry mouth:
Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as vegetables, fresh fruits and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Headache:
Try to take rest in a quiet dark room. Don’t involve yourself in exertive activities. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended in women who are pregnant (especially during the last 3 months) or trying to get pregnant as it may harm the baby. Consult your doctor for advice.
Breastfeeding
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding mothers. Consult your doctor for advice.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy, drowsy, tired or light-headed after taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET because you would be more likely to develop stomach problems.
Kidney
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with other kidney problems. Consult your doctor for advice.
Liver
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function, history of liver disease or any biliary problem. Consult your doctor for advice.
Allergy
Do not take DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET if you are allergic to Ketorolac tromethamine, aspirin or other similar medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with a family history of asthma, nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis (long-term swelling of the sinus) or hives. Consult your doctor for advice.
Heart Disease
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use if you had or are going to have a heart bypass surgery, have severe uncontrolled heart failure. DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in patients who have or had high blood pressure, angina, heart attack, congestive heart failure or atherosclerosis (thickening or hardening of your artery walls). Consult your doctor for advice.
Others
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have or had peptic ulcer and gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation
- have to undergo any major surgery
- tend to bleed easily
- have cerebrovascular bleeding
- have incomplete haemostasis (blood clotting), high risk of bleeding
- had an asthma attack, hives or other allergic reactions after taking aspirin or any other NSAIDs
- are going to take it for pain, right before or after heart bypass surgery
- smoke
Before taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET, inform your physician if you have:
- high cholesterol
- diabetes mellitus or are on a low sugar diet
- poor circulation to your extremities
- pancreatic problems
Use in Pediatrics:
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET is not recommended for use in children. The safety and effectiveness of DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET in children and adolescents (below 17 years of age) have not been established. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in Geriatrics:
DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Your doctor may prescribe you lower dosages. Consult your doctor for advice.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used for depression (Ex. fluvoxamine, sertraline, trazodone, citalopram, fluoxetine, escitalopram, paroxetine, vilazodone)
- lithium (used to manage mania)
- medicines used to improve mood, thoughts and behaviour (Ex. thiothixene, alprazolam)
- other medicines used to reduce pain (Ex. ibuprofen, indomethacin, ketorolac, aspirin, celecoxib, diclofenac, meloxicam, naproxen)
- methotrexate (medicine used in cancer management)
- medicines used to manage blood clot (Ex. warfarin, heparin, clopidogrel)
- medicines used to manage heat problems and high blood pressure (Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, enalapril, lisinopril, perindopril, ramipril, candesartan, irbesartan, losartan, valsartan, digoxin)
- medicines used to manage fits (Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine)
- prednisolone (used to manage autoimmune and inflammatory diseases)
- cyclosporin (used to supress immunity)
- morphine (used in extreme pain)
- oxpentiphylline (used to manage blood flow problems in legs or arms)
- probenecid (used to manage gout)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone accidentally use too much of DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital as it may increase the risk of side effects. Symptoms of DOLKET RAPID DISPERSIBLE TABLET overdosage may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and upper abdomen pain, lethargy.
