DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION contains Decitabine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-cancer agents. It is used in adults to manage myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS-group of cancers associated with blood and bone marrow) and acute myeloid leukemia (cancer of blood cells).
Before receiving DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have low RBC, WBC or platelet count in blood or currently have any infection as a precaution. DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Both men and women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with this medicine. Men may seek advice on sperm preservation, if necessary, prior to the therapy with this medicine.
The most common side effects of receiving DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION are increased bleeding, increased infections, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, sore nose and throat, and ulcers of mouth or tongue. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.
Uses Of DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION
It is used in adults to manage:
Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS-group of cancers associated with blood and bone marrow)
- Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML-blood cancer of WBC)
How DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION Works
DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION is an anticancer medication. It works by blocking the actions of certain enzymes (DNA/RNA methyltransferase) within the cancer cells that is required for the cells to grow and multiply. It also reduces the production of new genetic material (RNA and DNA) within the cells. As a result, it manages abnormal cell division within the body, slows down the growth of cancer cells and helps the bone marrow to produce normal blood cells.
How to use DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION
DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION
Common
- Urine infection
- Increased infection (bacterial, viral, or fungal)
- Increased bleeding or bruising tendency
- Low RBC count causing anemia, tiredness and pale skin
- Increased blood sugar levels
- Headache
- Nasal bleed
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- diarrhea
- Sore or runny nose, sore sinuses
- Sore mouth or tongue
- Increased level of bilirubin in the blood
Uncommon
- Red, raised painful patches on the skin along with fever and an increase in the number of white blood cells – indicative of ‘Acute Febrile Neutrophilic Dermatosis’ or ‘Sweet’s Syndrome’
Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION:
- Signs of increased infections such as fever due to low WBC count in blood
- Swelling of hands, legs and feet with chest pain
- Lung infections causing fever, chest pain and shortness of breath
- Bleeding within the head or bleeding within the stomach causing bloody stools, bloody urine, or bleeding under the skin causing red pinpoints dots to appear on the skin
- Signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing, fainting)
- Signs of serious immune reaction (such as fever, cough, difficulty in breathing, skin rashes, low urine output, hypotension, swelling of the arms or legs and rapid weight gain)
How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea
Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy food. Drinking Oral Rehydration Solution can be beneficial. Consult your doctor if diarrhea persists for long or worsens with time.

Headache
Take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Do not drink too much alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. It is recommended to talk to your doctor if they last for a longer duration or are severe in nature.

Nausea And Vomiting
Expose yourself to fresh air. Drink plenty of water or fruit juices and take lot of rest. Avoid listening to music or watching a screen. Keep regular fluid intake. Prefer taking ginger or peppermint tea. Eat small and frequent meals.

Sore Throat
Avoid eating spicy foods. Drink plenty of water. Apply a pain-relieving gel on the affected areas of the mouth if required. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedDECZUBA 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may harm the growing baby. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION and until 6 months after stopping the therapy. If you accidentally became pregnant while receiving DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor immediately.

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedDECZUBA 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDECZUBA 50MG INJECTION may cause tiredness or weakness. Therefore, do not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected by DECZUBA 50MG INJECTION.

Kidney
Use with CautionDECZUBA 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

Liver
Use with CautionDECZUBA 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

Allergy
