Introduction About DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET
DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET is a combination of Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used for the management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are inadequately controlled on metformin monotherapy.
Type II diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by abnormally high levels of glucose in the blood. It is caused by inadequate production of a hormone called insulin (produced by the pancreas to metabolize glucose) in the body or by inadequate sensitivity of body cells to the actions of insulin.
Before starting management with DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET, your doctor will assess your volume status and kidney function by conducting a blood test. DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease, heart failure, and low blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby. DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET is not recommended for use by breastfeeding women as it is not known whether it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor for advice.
The most common side effects of taking DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET are hypoglycemia, vulvovaginitis, balanitis and related genital infections, urinary tract infections, dizziness, rash, and back pain. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
Uses Of DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET
To manage type II diabetes mellitus
How DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET Works
DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET effectively controls blood glucose levels, where dapagliflozin works by inhibiting sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 protein in the kidneys and managing the reabsorption of glucose from the blood into the kidneys. As a result, more glucose is excreted in urine, which helps lower blood glucose levels in the body.
Linagliptin works by inhibiting the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) enzyme (a protein that helps to degrade incretin hormones) and thus increasing the concentrations of incretin hormones, stimulating the release of insulin in a glucose-dependent manner, decreasing the levels of glucagon, and reducing glucose production in the liver.
How to use DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET
Take DAPLO L 10/5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.
