    Introduction About COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT

    COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT is a combination of Clobetasol and Gentamicin which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to manage bacterial infections and inflammations of the skin.

    During the management your doctor might regularly examine your skin to avoid any untoward side effects.

    Avoid smoking while using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

    COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT is not recommended for use in children (ages less than 1 year). Before using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT, inform your doctor if you have skin conditions like fungal infections, severe flushing on and around your nose, spotty red rash around your mouth, infected or itchy skin around the genitals.

    COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT should be used with caution in pregnant women. COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

    The most common side effects of using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT are burning, pain, irritation or itching where the medicine is applied. Contact your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    How COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT Works

    COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT manages affected skin where Clobetasol induces certain proteins (lipocortins), that control the production of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes, thus reducing inflammation, and Gentamicin binds to 30s ribosomal subunit, disrupting mRNA translation, resulting in the formation of shortened or non-functional proteins.

    How to use COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT

    Apply COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area of the skin and rub it gently. Avoid contact with eyes. Your doctor will decide the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of infection.

    Side Effects Of COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT

    Common

    • burning, pain, irritation or itching (application site reactions)

    Uncommon

    • skin thinning that may cause stretch marks
    • blood vessels under the skin surface may become more visible

    Rare

    Stop using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • rounding of the face
    • increased risk of infection
    • dryness of skin
    • easy damage or wrinkling of the skin
    • worsening of skin problems (generalized rash or swelling)
    • raised bumps with pus under the skin
    • blurred vision or other visual disturbances
    • new bone pain or worsening of previous bone symptoms
    • overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms like fungi, irritation, sensitization, or superinfection

    • have acne
    • have rosacea (sudden reddening of skin on and around your nose)
    • have perioral dermatitis (red spotty rash around your mouth)
    • have itching around genital parts
    • have any infection
    • have itchy skin without inflammation
    • have widespread plaque psoriasis

    Before using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT inform your doctor if you:

    • have psoriasis

    COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT is not recommended for use in children (less than 1 year of age). Consult your doctor before using the medicine.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before using COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • other medicines used to manage inflammation (Ex. prednisolone, hydrocortisone)
    • medicines used to control your immune system (Ex. ciclosporin, tacrolimus)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally applies too much of COLBET G CREAM OINTMENT, contact your doctor immediately or visit nearby hospital.
