CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET contains Clonazepam which belongs to the group of medicines known as Benzodiazepines. It is used to manage seizure disorder (epilepsy).
Epilepsy is a common condition affecting the brain and causes frequent fits or seizures (bursts of electrical activity in the brain). Symptoms include uncontrollable jerking or shaking, loss of consciousness or collapse.
During the therapy with CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET, your doctor may conduct a blood test to determine liver function.
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver disease and myasthenia gravis. CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung disease, kidney disease, depression, mood problems, suicidal thoughts or behaviour. Contact your doctor before taking it.
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may harm the unborn baby. CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depending on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Specific serious side effects of CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET include suicidal thoughts or actions. If at any time you experience such thoughts, immediately contact your doctor.
The most common side effects of taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET are drowsiness, dizziness, problems with walking and coordination, depression, fatigue, lethargy and problems with memory. Contact your doctor in case any of the above side effects worsen.

CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET belongs to benzodiazepines which work by enhancing the activity of GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) an inhibitory neurotransmitter (a chemical in the brain).
How to use CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET
Take CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Disperse the medicine in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the medicine immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will tell you the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET
Common
- sedation, drowsiness, dizziness
- fatigue, lethargy
- problems with walking and coordination
- depression
- problems with memory
- headache
Uncommon
- blurred vision
- confusion
- irritability
- loss of libido
- lack of motivation
- psychomotor agitation
- hallucination
- worsening of depression
Rare
- nausea and stomach problems
- hives, rashes, short-term hair loss or change in skin colouring
- urinary incontinence (not being able to control when to pass water
- changes to your blood or liver function (seen in test results)
- early development of puberty (in children)
Stop taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- self-harming or suicidal thoughts
- changes in behaviour, aggressiveness, excitability, nervousness, hostility, anxiety, problems, sleeping, nightmares, vivid dreams, irritability, agitation, extreme mood changes and new types of seizures may occur
- allergic reactions can occur (such as itching, swelling of the tongue, eyes, lips and hands)
How To Manage Side Effects
Dizziness or Drowsiness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it aggravates dizziness or drowsiness. Contact your doctor if dizziness or drowsiness worsens.
Nausea:
Take the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if nausea worsens.
Headache:
Try to take rest and do not involve yourself in exertive activities. You can apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead. Your doctor might suggest you some painkillers. Ask for your doctor’s advice if the headache doesn’t improve

Pregnancy
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Consult your doctor before taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET.
Breastfeeding
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it passes through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Driving and Using Machines
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET may cause sleepiness or dizziness, slow your thinking ability and motor skills which can affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Do not drive or operate any machines.
Alcohol
Do not consume alcohol while taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET as it may worsen sleepiness or dizziness.
Kidney
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Clonazepam, to other benzodiazepines or any ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with lung diseases and breathing problems. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate lung disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET is not indicated for use if you:
- have myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness)
- suffer from sleeping disorders (sleep apnoea)
Before taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET you must inform your doctor if you:
- have a history of depression or have attempted suicide
- porphyria (a disease that affects the skin and/or nervous system)
- suffer from cerebellar ataxia (having problem with co-ordinating movement)
- have a history of drug abuse
Use in paediatrics:

Use in geriatrics:
CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- cimetidine (medicine used to manage ulcers)
- phenytoin, carbamazepine and phenobarbital (medicines used for fits)
- ketoconazole (medicine used for fungal infections)
- rifampicin (used to manage infection)
- anaesthetics
- hypnotics (medicines to make you sleep)
- medicines that help with anxiety (tranquillisers)
- pain killers (analgesics)
- medicines to relax your muscles (muscle relaxants)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of CLOZEP DT 0.25MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
