    Introduction About CLOBA SUSPENSION

    CLOBA SUSPENSION contains Clobazam which belongs to the group of medicines called Benzodiazepines. CLOBA SUSPENSION is used to manage short-term management of symptoms of severe anxiety in adults, epilepsy or fits (a neurologic disorder characterized by multiple episodes of seizures) in adults and children aged over 2 years along with other managements.

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is also used for the short- term management of hyperarousal and agitation in patients with schizophrenic (a disorder that affects one’s thoughts, emotions and behaviour) or other psychotic illness (in combination with other managements as benzodiazepines alone are ineffective in these patients).

    Avoid alcohol consumption while taking CLOBA SUSPENSION as it increases the sleepiness. Use of CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in patients with severe breathing disorders, severe liver diseases, myasthenia gravis, sleep apnoea syndrome.

    CLOBA SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients with existing kidney diseases, spinal or cerebellar ataxia (problems with controlling your movements) depression, irrational fears and obsessions, delusions (false belief of things) or hallucinations (seeing things that are not present) and difficulty digesting medicines.

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking.

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age unless considered clearly necessary. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Contact your doctor before taking.

    CLOBA SUSPENSION should be used with caution in elderly patients over 65 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.

    The most common side effects of CLOBA SUSPENSION are sleepiness, tiredness, feeling aggressive, depression, headache, difficulty while speaking, tremor, difficulty in concentrating, staying awake or alert, dry mouth, constipation, loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness, confusion. Contact your doctor if you get any of the above side effects.

    It is used to manage:

    • short-term management of severe anxiety (adults)
    • epilepsy or fits (adults and children)

    How CLOBA SUSPENSION Works

    CLOBA SUSPENSION binds to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptors and causes relaxation or stabilisation of neuronal membrane and decreases anxiety and fits.

    How to use CLOBA SUSPENSION

    Take CLOBA SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease severity.

    Side Effects Of CLOBA SUSPENSION

    Common

    • sleepiness, tiredness
    • feeling aggressive
    • depression
    • headache
    • difficulty while speaking

    • difficulty in concentrating, staying awake or alert

    Rare

    • psychomotor hyperactivity
    • urinary tract infections
    • decreased or increased appetite
    • slurred speech
    • fever
    • difficulty in swallowing
    • bronchitis

    Stop taking CLOBA SUSPENSION immediately and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • symptoms of psychotic or paradoxical reactions such as restlessness, agitation, irritability, aggression, delusions, rage, nightmares, hallucinations, deceptive thoughts (psychosis), inappropriate behaviour
    • suicidal thought or ideation
    • restlessness, difficulty sleeping or nightmares
    • false belief (delusions)
    • sensing things which are not present (hallucinations)
    • increased risk of tripping or falling (elderly patients)
    • severe blisters, peeling off the skin, bleeding of the skin around the lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals, also flu-like symptoms and fever
    • feeling of being generally unwell, fever, chills muscle pain
    • rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea:

    Take CLOBA SUSPENSION with or after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Contact your doctor if nausea persists.

    Constipation:

    Eat fibre rich food such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.

    Dry mouth:

    Drink lots of fluids (water or fruit juices) to keep yourself hydrated. Chew sugar free gummies and candies. Contact your doctor if dry mouth persists.

    Headache:

    Try to rest and relax. Apply a balm on your head. If the headache does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Loss of appetite:

    Eat when you are hungry. Have smaller meals more often. Snack only when you're hungry. Eat a nutritious snack rich in calories and protein, such as dry fruits and nuts. Contact your doctor if appetite did not improve.

    Itchy skin:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when going outdoors or use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the skin. Contact your doctor if itching persists.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    Use of CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in pregnancy Taking this medicine during pregnancy increases the risk of cleft lip and palate in the baby. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Breastfeeding

    Use of CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in breastfeeding mothers (as it may pass on in the breast milk). Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience sleepiness, concentration or memory problems, double vision or reacting more slowly to things.

    Alcohol

    Avoid alcohol consumption while taking CLOBA SUSPENSION as it may increase the side effects and cause drowsiness.

    Kidney

    CLOBA SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients with existing kidney diseases. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Liver

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in patients with severe liver disorders. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Allergy

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in patients allergic to Clobazam, other benzodiazepine medicines or to fructose or other sugars and any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in patients with severe breathing disorders. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Others

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended for use if you have:

    • myasthenia gravis (severe form of muscle weakness)
    • sleep apnoea syndrome (breathing problems for short periods during sleep)

    Before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION tell your doctor if you have:

    • spinal or cerebellar ataxia (problem controlling movements)
    • depression, irrational fears and obsessions
    • delusions (false belief of things) or hallucinations (seeing things that are not present)
    • difficulty digesting medicines
    • hereditary fructose intolerance

    Use in pediatrics:

    CLOBA SUSPENSION is not recommended in children under 2 years of age unless considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Use in geriatrics:

    CLOBA SUSPENSION should be used with caution in elderly patients over 65 years of age due to increased risk of side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness and muscle weakness, increased risk of fall that may result in serious injury. Contact your doctor before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking CLOBA SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • Other medicines for epilepsy (such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, stiripentol or valproic acid)
    • anti-depressants (medicines used to manage depression such as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs such as phenelzine and isocarboxazid), tricyclic anti-depressants such as trazodone, Amitriptyline, nortriptyline
    • Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluvoxamine or paroxetine
    • antipsychotics (medicines used to manage severe mental illness such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol, clozapine and pimozide)
    • painkillers (medicines that contain codeine, dihydrocodeine or morphine)
    • sleeping medicines (zolpidem), tranquilisers (diazepam, temazepam or lorazepam)
    • medicines used to manage anxiety or to produce sleep
    • muscle relaxants (baclofen)
    • antihistamines (medicines that cause sleep such as chlorphenamine, promethazine or diphenhydramine)
    • lithium (medicine used to manage a mental illness called manic-depressive illness)
    • cimetidine (medicine used to manage ulcers and heartburn)
    • omeprazole (medicine used to manage the symptoms of acid reflux)
    • ticlopidine (antiplatelet medicine used to manage blood clots)
    • fluconazole (medicine used to manage fungal infections)
    • dextromethorphan (medicine used to relieve dry, irritating coughs)
    • nebivolol (medicine used to lower high blood pressure)
    • erythromycin (medicine used for bacterial infections)
    • opioids Ex. codeine, dihydrocodeine or morphine (medicines used for severe pain, cough)
    • hormonal contraceptives (used to manage pregnancy)
    • prednisone (medicine used to manage inflammatory conditions)
    • rifampicin (medicine used for tuberculosis)
    • herbs with sedative properties (Ex. chamomile, kava kava, valerian)
    • St. John’s wort (medicine used for depression)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else takes extra dose of CLOBA SUSPENSION accidentally, report to the nearest hospital immediately or call for your doctor. The effects of overdose may make you feel excessively confusion, lethargy, diminished reflexes, respiratory depression.
